Week 1 SBC Power Ranking - Arrowhead - 09-02-2017 11:20 PM

This is a tough week to do the ranking. So far I have:

1) Arkansas St.
2) Troy
3) App St.
4) ULM
5) Idaho
6) NMSU
7) USA
8) Coastal
9) Georgia Southern
10) ULL
11) Texas St.
12) Georgia St.

Two - nine are a toss up. Yes ULM that high is probably pretty homerish, but we played as well or better than most.

Too early and vastly different opponents for a power ranking but how about a report card?

A Grade: Coastal, Idaho

B Grade: NMSU, StAte, ULM

C Grade: App, Troy, USA

D Grade: GS, TXST, ULL

F Grade: GAST

RE: Week 1 SBC Power Ranking - Arrowhead - 09-03-2017 12:05 AM

That's fair, but I would still probably give Arkansas State an A-. Is early to rank.

RE: Week 1 SBC Power Ranking - Fanof49ASU - 09-03-2017 12:14 AM

B is correct. Had we got that last td, and failed the 2pt conversion...that would've earned the A-.
A win would have been the A.

RE: Week 1 SBC Power Ranking - boroeagle2 - 09-03-2017 12:20 AM

GS at the bottom.

RE: Week 1 SBC Power Ranking - Fanof49ASU - 09-03-2017 12:28 AM

Relax GaSo fans. Not many teams can go into the Plains and beat the #12 Tigers.
Same for Appy. Y'all aren't SEC material this year. Join the club.

RE: Week 1 SBC Power Ranking - LatahCounty - 09-03-2017 12:49 AM

1. Idaho. Why not? We're riding the longest winning streak in the conference and we won convincingly this week.
2. Arkansas State. Best showing against a P5 team.
3. ULM. Best showing against a G5 team.
4. Coastal. Only FBS win.
5. NMSU. Played tough against Arizona St.
6. Everybody else stunk.
12. Troy. I'll get over it eventually, but not today.

How you got Coastal behind ULM??? You say best showing against a G5, and the very next line is a win against a G5 indy. I'd switch 3&4 and say you got it right.

Week 1 SBC Power Ranking - AppNation85 - 09-03-2017 03:16 AM

Here's a "based on my expectations" ranking:

Exceeded: Coastal Carolina, Arkansas State, NMSU

Met: Troy, Louisiana, Texas State, South Alabama, ULM,

Below: App State, Georgia Southern, Georgia State

ULL barley won against FCS. That QB could have ran it in. How is that "met"? They didn't look good.

Maybe he expected them to suck and it met his expectations?

You guys are being too hard on UL and are too impressed with Idaho.

I mean, I'm not saying Idaho looks bad but aside from Houston Baptist they had the weakest opponent of any of us
by a significant margin.

This. Strength of competition is an important factor.
App State, Georgia Southern and USA had the most difficult opponents, IMO.
