Awesome. This should be the uniform every home game, except ring of red. Not sure why Tuberville staff and even Butch made this so complicated every week

Love it!

RE: Uniform Watch for Austin Peay - JPBearcat3 - 08-30-2017 09:46 AM

Also enjoy the all-black. Don't agree that it should be combo every home game, though. UC has to treat uniforms like other large schools; it's now a thing all to itself.

Having different combos, making game-week announcements, keeping recruits on their toes. It's a spectacle. One that isn't going away any time soon - especially with Under Armour on our side.

RE: Uniform Watch for Austin Peay - pat5775 - 08-30-2017 09:51 AM

I thought there was a press release months ago saying every home game will be black on black? Personally, I'm all for it. Not every school has to be obnoxious like Oregon and Maryland with different uniforms every week. Keep it simple, stupid.

If they absolutely have to have some variety, I hope they follow a guideline of sorts. Ditch the white and red helmets, use the black helmet every game. Ditch the red pants as well. For the 6 home games, wear black on black twice, black on white twice, red on black once, red on white once (choose one of those for the Ring of Red game). For 6 road games, white on white three times, white on black 3 times. Sweet, simple, and lets us have an identity.

Just polled everyone... Confirmed, you're the only one. 04-cheers

UC should have played up the eclipse with the all black uniforms.

I'm sorry, but the black on white looks absolutely ridiculous to me. IMO, darker pants than tops always, but solid colors throughout first and foremost.

As long as we don't use that plush animal Bearcat logo again, I'm good. I'd like to see the Cincinnati "C" logo incorporated into our uniform scheme. And some throwback logos, like the arched-back Bearcat from the 40s. Did we ever have "Cincy" as our logo? That would be neat, too.

No reason to be sorry. You are allowed to have an opinion.

This could be done with jerseys, but it would be hilarious with helmets.

I agree; the retro logos would be more fun for one-off uniforms than the baby Bearcat.

I do like this uniform combination but does UA really pay us enough to have their marks on the uni in at least eight places, by my count? If this keeps up they may soon run out of room for a C-Paw and the word Cincinnati. I'm all in for their sponsorship and royalties but in the past decade college uniforms have gone from a simple Nike swoosh on the jersey to being walking billboards for athletic wear companies.

RE: Uniform Watch for Austin Peay - CliftonAve - 08-30-2017 01:49 PM

Speaking of retro, I always thought the 1965 uniforms were pretty cool. The road uniforms were all white, with black numbers.

Also, I think the uniforms in the early 70s were red helmet with a white interlocking UC logo, white pants. I've seen pictures before and they looked pretty sharp. Anyone on here around to remember those?

RE: Uniform Watch for Austin Peay - bearcatdp - 08-30-2017 03:44 PM

Hasn't the Athletic Department said in the past that the C-Paw is our logo and they won't use anything but the C-Paw. That could have been a past Athletic Department but I remember it being said. I would love to see them use one of these on the throwback unis:
70's [Image: Cincinnati_OLD10.gif] or
80's [Image: Cincinnati_OLD16.gif]
I got those pics from the Helmet Project site which is really cool.

Bolded, yes, that was their position at one time. I believe they wanted to use it exclusively for a certain time period to establish it as our primary mark. Now, they seem willing to use other marks including the old C-Paw as secondary or special ones. We have a rich history so there are lots of old ones to draw from.

I wouldn't even mind seeing the script "Cincy" used on helmets or jerseys as a one-off special sometime.

No need to be sorry. To each their own! I personally prefer the jerseys and pants to not match. I like a little contrast, but again that's just me. And I really don't like the red pants... I don't know why (red is my favorite color). I just think they look... Different. They don't look like UC to me. Maybe more like Texas Tech.

RE: Uniform Watch for Austin Peay - TubaCat - 08-30-2017 11:29 PM

I prefer all white or all black. I'm fine with changing up the uniform every week if that's what the players want, though.

RE: Uniform Watch for Austin Peay - AeroCat - 08-31-2017 07:36 AM

I've said it before and I'll say it again. For away games, you can't beat the black helmet, white jersey, and black pants. Takes me back to the Pitt game and the Mardy Gilyard years.

Best UC road uniform combination...ever!

Most every team has white road uniforms and tons of schools use red. And from what I can gather, most kids today love playing in black. Shame on us if we don't keep it as our distinctive primary uniform color, while many other schools copy and coopt it. Imitation is the greatest form of flattery. Hold the red for a game or two each year in each sport.

Go 'Cats! Less than ten hours to kickoff...
