KSU Men's Golf 2017-18 Season - axeme - 08-26-2017 10:18 AM
This should be a big year for the guys with basically everyone back. They will start the season ranked #23 in the Golfweek Coaches Poll.
Here are the highlights of the fall schedule from the KSU website:
Quote:The fall slate features five tournaments, with a new addition to cap off 2017. After the Gopher Invitational, Kent State will play in the following familiar tournaments: Maui Jim Invitational in Scottsdale, Arizona Sept. 21-22; Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate in Johnson City, Tennessee Oct. 13-15; and the Royal Oaks Invitational in Dallas Oct. 23-24.
The highlight of the fall season comes from Nov. 3-5, when the Flashes travel to Ka'anapali, Hawaii for the Ka'anapali Classic. This is the first time the Flashes have traveled to the prestigious University of Hawaii tournament.

Finished third. Two behind ASU and one behind Georgia Tech. A little disappointing after the first round but still an excellent result.

KSU Men's Golf is 5 weeks a way from their 1st spring tournament (February 26th/27th) Louisiana Classic in Lafayette LA. 1st of 6 spring tournaments for the men's team and then MAC Tournament @ Carmel IN.
Based on scoring averages from the fall tournaments, the lineup will be Holt, Petursson, Johnson, Sveinbergsson, & Doody. Gillikson & Kurtz scoring average are a stroke or more than Doody.
KSU Men's Golf Team on the hunt for their 25th MAC Championship this spring.

Louisiana Classic scoring
The men finished 3rd in their spring opener, trailing only #3 Texas A&M and #11 Illinois. Ian Holt finished 3rd individually after leading through the first 2 rounds.
The Flashes are ranked #28. The only other ranked team in the field, #24 Louisville finished 5th.

The Hootie Invitational
The men hold a 2-shot lead going into the final round of the Hootie Invitational (yes, it’s a benefit for the Hootie and the Blowfish Foundation which also included a concert Saturday night.).
Great second round after being several shots back after yesterday’s round. Solid field of mostly southern power conference teams.

The men played well yesterday really. They were -10 after the first two rounds to get the lead and then shot -12 yesterday to get to -22. Normally, that would be enough, but Ole Miss came from way back and shot -19 yesterday after being only -4 after two rounds. The Flashes has a couple of putts on the last hole to tie, I think I saw that the shortest was 13 ft. but couldn’t drop one.

Aggie Invitational LIVE SCORING
Flashes sit in second place after two rounds in a loaded field. (Play was suspended for darkness so there are a few teams that have holes yet to play in round two.) Flashes are currently ahead of #1 Oklahoma St and #2 Texas A&M and trail only #8 Alabama. The final round should start later this morning.

Finished second 7 strokes behind #1 Oklahoma St. we beat six teams that were ranked ahead of us s we should move up into the top thirty.

We ran down the 2nd round leader Alabama, but Ok. St. showed why they are the best team in the country.

The men were in W. Lafayette this weekend to defend their Boilermaker Invitational title. They were tied after two rounds with Northwestern, and it was just announced that today’s play is canceled due to weather. So that gives the guys a tie for the title.

Played like crap in Rd 2. today and in 2nd place. Not much of a threat to do anything in the NCAA's the way we are playing.
