most likely virginia is the detroit opponent. CMU would be a good fit there but those teams played last yr, so maybe not.

florida state has a regional fan base. they will drive to a southern bowl.

i imagine the goal will be to get us into 1 of the 2 open texas bowl slots vs big12. we like to use the bowls for recruiting advantage, florida, alabama, last 3 years . i would expect the big texas recruiting pool would be a draw.

A game against a P5, I can't imagine happening if that bowl can't get attendance, which all I can think of means, in Detroit against a big name P5 having had a poor seasonnor on their home ground. I can imagine a big name team wanting to risk Toledo. They'd probably turn down Detroit.

Iowa St would be fun. :D

Played at Washington, and got blown out. Could have been Pinkle’s tenure.

Pinkle's 1st year...told us on Monday that everyone that travels that week will play...basically told us that we had zero chance. They were #1 at the time and we really didn't have much of a shot, but it was the 1st time that I've ever had a coach throw in the towel...didn't even seem like we game planned for UW...didn't even watch the film after the game.

I remember that game. Steve Entmann (sp) was playing for Washington and Don James was the coach and Pinkel came to Toledo from Washington. I believe they were ranked #1 when we played them. Without looking it up, I think we lost either 42-0 or 48-0. And James didn't like to run the score up....and he didn't. It was 5 years later when Wasean Tait suffered the same "Entmann injury" to his knee and killed his potential career in the NFL.

That will never happen. The conference will always make sure the winners of both divisions play in a bowl game.

That game started out great for the Rockets with a turnover... Never capitalized, and things went south after that...03-banghead

I thought I'd be able to find this, but I must be looking in the wrong places. Does anyone know exactly when the invitations and match-ups will be announced? Must be this weekend or early next week.

Sunday evening.

And the MAC has been announcing all of theirs at once in the last couple years, which is why the Bahamas Bowl being announced already caught me a bit by surprise. Maybe the bowl and participating schools need additional time to take care of any potential red tape since it requires international travel.
