I can see Charlie Strong considered by Ole Miss if USF performs as expected.

That's a lot

But but but....it's too early to praise recruiting.

RE: Bulls land 9 commitments this weekend - Cubanbull - 07-30-2017 09:16 PM

Actually 11 now we just got two more. We had a small class of 18 last year. So this one will go past 25

If Strong does as well as expected and takes USF to the Access Bowl. He will have better offers than an Ole Miss on probation.

Not worried about it, USF would be an attractive job if he leaves

On your remark re Ole Miss - I have to wonder coming off fresh with Texas. I think he has to work his way back up and 'Ole Miss probation' looks like that next step. Plus its a 4 or 5 million a year job with limited expectations. I'm thinking strong candidate.

You forget Charlie is making 4 million at USF for next couple of years with no state tax due to Texas buy out. If he wins he will get better jobs. An ole miss on probation in same division as Bama is a dead end, he can't afford the risk of failing at another P conference job.

RE: Bulls lands 11commitments this weekend - Cubanbull - 07-30-2017 09:39 PM

Plus remember if Strong goes 13-0 an Access Bowl this year many would say it was done with Q and players from Taggart and can he do it without Q at the helm. I think he is going to have to prove he can win at USF more than this year when he got a loaded team and schedule

RE: Bulls lands 11commitments this weekend - HuskyU - 07-30-2017 09:40 PM

IMO likelihood of being poached after this season:

Tier 1 (Most Likely):
Phillip Montgomery
Chad Morris
Mike Norvell

Tier 2:
Charlie Strong
Scott Frost

Tier 3 (Least Likely):
Luke Fickell
Willie Fritz
Geoff Collins
Major Applewhite
Randy Edsall
Scotty Montgomery
Ken Niumatalolo

And maybe you under estimate the look of a program like Texas falling off the cliff. Texas lost to Kansas --
they could have lost to Rice. You think a decent P5 forgets that in one year? I think Ole Miss offers nice stepping stone. But you think he gets a substantially better offer fresh off of Texas that's cool.

He's actually making 5.5M with his Texas buyout included.

USF will move to the number one ranked AAC class once these recruits are tabulated into the rankings with over 20 3 star recruits.

Coach Strong is recruiting his butt off.

No I think he will need to win at USF for a couple of years and then he will get better offers. He will make 5.5 million at USF for next two years.
As I said Ole Miss will be a dead end for anyone going there a probation team in SEC WEST will not last long. Ole Miss is not a good job under those circumstances

Honestly I am hoping we can retain Coach Strong for 2-3 years. That would mean he had good success and leave next guy a stocked cupboard. If he wins big this year offer him a significant contract extension.

I think we can offer him an extension but as long as we are outside of the Power group doubt he stays long run. Remember that the 5.5 million deal is for next couple of years, the last two drop money wise due to Texas money running out.
