Dekalb corn logo on CFL fields - prairiedawg - 07-27-2017 10:02 PM

Love the CFL. See it again tonight at another stadium ... huge Dekalb corn logo on Winnipeg's field. I have seen it on other team's fields too.

NIU is in frucking Dekalb where the brand originated.......but the university cant even get Monsanto to sponsor a postage sized stamp corn logo anywhere??? Embarrassing.

It's on Iowa's scoreboard too btw. Hey STF ... you couldn't work in sales bud!!!!

Yeah I'm sure nobody at NIU has ever connected the dots and contacted Monsanto. Quick... somebody suggest it to SF

Hey prairiedawg, you're only a couple years behind Mike Korcek.
Back on Aug. 25, 2015, he had a Korcek's Corner in The Daily Chronicle entitled: Why isn't corn logo up at Huskie Stadium? (and it was discussed by the Dog Pound). He wrote about it being on the Winnipeg field .... guess research isn't your specialty. By the way, those former DeKalb Ag buildings on Sycamore Road are now owned by NIU, which relocated some operational offices to that location.

Monsanto realized that advertising in DeKalb is not money well spent. We are not their targeted audience.

RE: Dekalb corn logo on CFL fields - Dog Fan - 07-28-2017 11:26 AM

You guys are right. The flying corn logo should be prominently displayed in Huskie Stadium. It puts DeKalb on the map and highlights the major agricultural crop of the area. Getting that logo on TV from the area where it was born can only help Monsanto. Don't they realize the value of our national coverage as millions of fans across the country are glued to their TVs and computers to watch our games?

P.S. I once tried to convince Athletics to get the Paperback Grotto as a sponsor. The deal was almost closed until they saw the logo that the Grotto wanted to display in Huskie Stadium. Athletics feared that the Grotto's sort of long and thick logo would look too much like Toledo's.

Actually most of us are more performance based. I want to know why he hasn't gotten it done. Simply.

Those of us who aren't STF fanboys wonder.

I'm certainly not an "STF fanboy" if that even exists. I have no issue with questioning our current corporate partnerships and revenue streams. The idea that no one has connected the DeKalb/DeKalb dots and pursued it is laughable though.

No one said that he hadn't contacted them. They said he should get it done.

Learfield and not NIU sells this space. This is not on STF at all.

Dekalb corn logo on CFL fields - NIU Chicago - 07-29-2017 12:22 AM

I talked about this 25 years ago. NIU should have had the flying ear of corn as their symbol. Too bad NIU messes up everything.

RE: Dekalb corn logo on CFL fields - Rabid Squirrel - 07-29-2017 06:53 AM

If Nebraska is the ones doing the husking and are the CornHuskers, would we be the ones getting husked and thus be the CornHuskee's?

RE: Dekalb corn logo on CFL fields - NIUHuskie4life - 07-29-2017 08:18 AM

In other news, VCBS is such a joke I love how they sell the flying corn flag for $100 when Monsanto sells it for a third of the price.

Just one of the many things you are entirely wrong about.

A bookstore that caters to university students artificially inflates the prices of the products it sells/rents? Unbelievable!
