It's a shame to see what people think is relevant news worthy of discussion... - miko33 - 07-14-2017 06:35 AM

...on this forum. What appears to be dominating the minds of most posters here are scandals. Russia seems to still dominate the scandal threads. Normally I no longer comment on Russia connection threads because - frankly, they are of no value. Every country has their own clandestine ops groups and all of the big players in the international scene uses resources to influence the elections of allies and enemies alike. This has been a normal part of life ever since nations began setting up their own Intelligence groups. We have no idea how much Russia did to influence the elections - at least today we don't. The news media has zero clue because they rushed to "print" hot stories that were later debunked and ultimately corrected if not outright retracted. It's a frigging joke what we are seeing today.

If we're not talking about the Russia thing, then we rehash the Hillary scandals about her server as well as the Obama scandals with how he handled Hillary thru Loretta Lynch, etc etc. It's becoming nauseating. You guys realize that none of this will ever stick to anyone, right? The real scandal is how both GOP and Dem politicians can subvert rules/laws and yet still receive the legal cover from their elected peers that these scandals always go away - or are pinned on some lower level scapegoat. That's the real scandal, and I don't see that wall created by the Duopoly being smashed anytime soon. So...who cares?

Maybe it's just me, but I think the most interesting threads are those that are tied to the most current news that actually covers actual world events. For example, how will Venezuela affect the rest of L.A. politically? How has the U.S. economy operated since Trump took over? Did Trump actually affect the U.S. economy or was it nothing but natural movement? Is the Euro safe now or is it still teetering on the edge? Etc...

Bottom line is there is a lot of sh!t to sift thru to get to the good threads. There are good threads on this forum, just far too few of them and in deference to the echo chamber bullsh!t scandal threads. However, if this is what you guys like the most then so be it. I wouldn't understand it if you do.

One thing to get Russia scandal off the news is by announcing Russia a state sponsor of terror since they give money and the nukes capale parts to Iran and all that.

I don't start many threads but in the few I do, I like to think they are newsworthy. But look at a few of my recent threads:

LNG sales to Poland - 0ne reply
School vouchers in Colorado - 10 replies
Dodd-Frank roll back - 2 replies

Guess they don't have a need for a pot.

Sorry, I missed those threads. But those are the types we should focus on. Keep trying.

XACLY!

here, here....I rarely start meaningful threads....

one quickly realizes it's pointless....

fwiw, I almost responded in agreement with Dodd-Frank relative to Sarbanes/Oxley 03-wink

Miko, you'll have to forgive me.. but if you don't like the thread topics, shouldn't you be starting other ones rather than the "big topics of the day" instead of just complaining about the ones that are here?

I could drone on for months about SarBox, or as it is commonly known the Public Accounting Income Enhancement Act.

I do agree that nothing will come of any of these "scandals" but it keeps TV ratings so that is all you'll see covered. Spending a segment on the economy during the primetime shows will get people to click off. Kinda like showing hockey highlights.

Why did Obama store our uranium in Canada?

He didn't. A russian company bought a canadian mining company called Uranium One.

OK, now you've crossed over the line. Nobody messes with hockey and gets a pass. Considered yourself rebuked.

Seriously, the only show I was accustomed to regularly watch was Cavuto at 4PM. At least it was customary for him to discuss the economy. But now his show is caught up in the whole circle jerk of Trump and the Russians. Although, I will give him credit for harping on how all this crap is affecting the tax cut efforts.

Nonetheless, I can't watch his show any more. So now I watch none. Thank goodness for the Wall Street Journal.

I like Cavuto, sad to hear even a business show is getting wrapped up in this.

you mean the deal that 17 different agencies had to sign off on before it could go through and yet yall somehow acted as if HRC was the only person responsible for said deal? that has been debunked as a BS scandal that wasn't a scandal and yet long after it's been debunked you still believe it.

yall are such fake news ******** it's not even funny.

I'm tired of all of the silly Russian garbage.

you must admit. is this not the most hypocritical position possible after complaining endlessly about a made-up HRC scandal for the last four years?
