That's like asking folks in 2009 "now who wanted Cal to be head coach in 2000?"

Of course Finebaum downplays the severity. That guy is the worst.

Guarantee he was the first guy freeze called for spin control.

I'm ashamed that Memphis produced someone like Finebaum.

If Norvell left would you rather replace him with Freezus or Larry Porter? That should end this silly thread.

RE: NTR: Hugh Freeze news ... - AlonsoWDC - 07-13-2017 11:22 PM

Uhh, why would the non-Freeze option be a retread?

Question - who would you rather hire to be Norvell's successor? Freeze (possibly with show-cause) or someone in the SAME VEIN AS OUR PREVIOUS TWO HIRES?

Matt Levine had a pretty interesting kinda related article in Money Stuff today. [1] A coal company sued a news service that covers bankruptcy and distressed debt because they believe that they got information from investors who signed NDAs. The news service won on appeal. Quite interesting.

No, not at all.

Freeze has no baggage whatsoever at ASU or Lambuth.

He might have been considered a snake oil salesman, but had no NCAA issues.

He's cut from the exact same cloth as your praise jesus head coach. They just wear sweater vests with different logos.

This is where people often get confused on the timeline.

He had no ASU experience when we chose not to offer him (ie when we hired Porter). All there was at that time (late 2009), was Lambuth and the Blind Side experience at Old Miss.

He was being "considered" late 2011, as we were firing Porter and hiring Fuente. But Old Miss got to him first so it was never a realistic option.

So, we only really rejected him one time - when we went with Porter in 2009 (before Arky St).

So, the knock would have been lack of HC experience, not the "Praise Freezus" issues.

You got it figured out. You should make a graph of the similarities.

http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/florida-gators/os-sp-sec-ole-miss-mike-bianchi-0713-story.html

"Why does he still have a job after overseeing one of the dirtiest programs in college football?"

"Freeze, as you might expect from an embattled college football coach, is talking out of both sides of his mouth. "

"The most perplexing thing about Ole Miss is that Freeze isn’t even that great of a coach. He isn’t Pitino, Paterno or even Art Briles. Ole Miss was 5-7 last year, 2-6 in the SEC. In five seasons, Freeze has a 19-21 SEC record."
