Bearcat Podcasts - The T-Shirt - 07-11-2017 09:53 AM

I was hesitant to post this, mostly because I figured most here already knew of these. But I figured more Bearcat-centric convo was needed, and even though many may know of these, there may be plenty of posters or guests who don't know these existed. So to my knowledge, these are the Bearcat podcasters currently making content and Bearcat conversation:

Bearcat Journal Podcast: I'm going to post their two latest podcasts. Though they are a pay site, these podcasts are readily available to the public as far as I can tell, no green "VIP" thing on these.

BCJ Podcast Episode 99 : First up, this one is a football focused podcast, kind of a fall camp preview/roster breakdown type of deal. They discuss the Alex Thomas situation too IIRC.

BCJ Podcast 100 : This time they sit down with Mike Bohn and Brandon Sosna, a lot of good info in this one IMO.

Bearcats Blog Cast: The first one I started listening to this year. Good discussion and opinions on the latest in Bearcat happenings. Careful with this one though, one guys mic and voice are really quiet and I'll catch myself turning it up when he speaks only to have my eardrum burst when the other guy starts talking.

Bearcats Blog Cast Episode 77 : Their latest podcast, discusses the released UC and AAC finances.

Oh Varsity! Podcast: These guys just started, and I guess technically havent made their first episode yet, just a kind of introduction episode breaking down what kind of Bearcat podcast they are going to be. I'll post it and let the podcast explain for themselves. Also, this one is worth the listen for the intro sequence alone.

OhVaristy! Podcast Episode 0 : Pilot Episode

To my knowledge, thats all thats out there. Each of these podcasts can be subscribed to on various podcast platforms, and can be listened to on your computers, phones, iPods, and in the car for your commute.

These guys have all promoted these on social media, but I've never seen them posted here for either advertisement or discussion. I figured they wouldn't mind if I took the time to plug their content for them, but if any of you guys do, I'll delete the thread. I know some BB posters may not use social media so they may be unaware of these things, some may not even use podcasts and instead listen to the local radio garbage. There is good Bearcat content out there, folks, hopefully I've helped you find it.

Always enjoy listening to the BCJ podcast. Really brought the VIPs in with Mike Bohn and Brandon. I like how Brandon made a Moose comment. A couple years ago I was at an event where Bohn sarcastically asked if "The (Tuxedo) Yoda" was in the room.

Always good to hear perspective from Matt Opper. I miss his contributions here and his technical breakdowns on Down the Drive.

RE: Bearcat Podcasts - JJ_Bearcats - 07-12-2017 07:23 AM

Thanks for posting these! I'll pass these along as well, it will be nice having this type of input and perspective, especially leading up to the season.

BTW, Bohn is definitely a salesman but his attitude is quite infectious. I think we all could stand to "sell" UC to folks we know just a little more. In fact, I'm heading over to the school website and going to order a couple new shirts for us right now.

Bolded, this is a great observation and he's probably done more in this regard than any other AD at UC. Not that I have agreed with Bohn on every decision, but I love his energy and positive attitude at a time when fans have (rightfully) been discouraged by the conference situation and declining performance in football.

I sense a resurgence in the passion for UC football and hope we're all wearing the colors and buying more. Many have commented on here in recent years about the proliferation of UC gear in this town. It's exciting for a guy like me who remembers walking through Kenwood Town Center as an undergraduate and not seeing a single UC shirt or jacket--on the shoppers or in the stores!

RE: Bearcat Podcasts - Bearcat2012 - 07-12-2017 10:03 AM

We talk about spreading the word with our gear out in public .

I've become a big proponent of this ....

https://www.alumni.uc.edu/uc-license-plate

I figure I force at least a couple dozen motorist to stare at the UC logo behind me daily . Plus $25 of the $35 goes back to UC in scholarship money.

RE: Bearcat Podcasts - bearcatalyst - 07-12-2017 12:24 PM

Great thread topic as this is EASILY my favorite way of consuming entertainment and content. I wasn't aware of the bearcats blog podcast so thank you to the OP.

Stories with Stein: Started listening to this last basketball season. Regularly hosted Dan Cronin and seemed pretty in the know. Unsure if they follow college football at all but it was easily worth the listen during NCAAB season.

Let's Talk Bearcat Basketball: Started just last year and went through some growing pains. 2 brothers recapping the latest in cats hoops. Have a fun feature at the end of each episode where the highlight a former bearcat and where he is now

The Skinny Podcast: Sure, you have to sit through what that guy that covers X has to say, but you get a lot of quality content. I'm kidding, even the Xavier coverage is great and Chad and Rick have a good back and forth. Also get some NKU, UK, Louisville and top 5ish coverage.

Can I make a formal plea to Chad since I know he reads this. PLEASE, put your podcasts on itunes. If you do this, I will sign up for your site, today. It's so good but is sadly out of sight/out of mind.

Ditto. Always take extra pleasure driving through Columbus with those plates.

Seriously though, if we want UC to be perceived as the other big player in Ohio, we need more plates on the highways. They always attract comments when I drive out of state too.

Last time I saw the numbers OSU had about three times the number UC had. It's a feel good decision as it does support scholarships. And it can be done online any time of the year, not just at renewal.

Ditto. Even if one can't afford the extra bucks for the UC plates, one can at the minimum get a UC license plate frame.

If alums/students don't represent UC, why should we expect anyone else to?

I've had a Cincinnati plate for the past 8 years...while working at OSU, UT, and Michigan State 03-lmfao

I've always wondered how to get those things. Also, I had no idea it supported scholarships! Why isn't that advertised more often?! Thanks to the both of you for the link and the info.

I'll be ordering two of those in the next few days. They'll look good with both of the Bearcat license plate frames my wife and I already have.
