Tyreke Evans - Memphis Tiger Recruiting Profile - k2tigers - 07-09-2017 07:57 PM

I forgot how acclaimed he was out of HS, even more so than DRose....not quite as much as Dajuan, but certainly close

Interesting.....for those who don't know, he is returning to Memphis to play professionally next year

They got a hell of a bargain for him. Obviously, staying healthy has been an issue for him. Not sure what his role will be either, especially with McLemore and Selden. Glad to have him back nevertheless.
Lord, what a talented roster that was...

Yea, just got outcoached by Mike Anderson in the NCAA tournament
I have difficulty believing Calipari threw the Missouri game, but it was very odd seeing our defense get scorched play after play like we were in a playground pick-up game rather than an NCAA Tourney game.

The Griz must have a role for him to fill or they would not have signed him. However, like you, I cannot see it.
Tyreke has been brought in to be the primary bench scorer. He will also play the point at times with Mike at the 2. If he can stay healthy, he brings what Lance brought to the table 2 seasons ago and Tyreke is better.

I agree I don't think Cal could have thrown the game...

The team was shocked...everyone was afraid to run with the Tigers all year and tried to slow it down and Missouri came out both guns blazing. Turns out that was an effective strategy.

People can say whatever they want but I believe he was fine with losing. They ran the same play over and over and over and over and Cal didn't make a single adjustment. They killed us with a curl screen to the basket. After the 10th or 20th time, Cal could have made an adjustment on defense. He did not. If it were many different plays and Missouri was just "making tough shots" I could agree. They were not making tough shots, they were doing the exact same thing over and over.

There was no compelling motive for Calipari intentionally losing, IMO. His KY tasks could wait while he further massaged his ego with more NCAA Tourney wins. Calipari hates losing.
07-coffee3 I may be way off on this thought process because I don't remember the time line but didn't a former Memphis player that married a Missouri daughter of a Wal-Mart owner or executive have something to do with a rather large gift to the University of Memphis?
