My impressions of the ULM campus - Usajags - 07-03-2017 04:15 PM

Took a drive through campus today and I'd like to say good things.....

But the truth is, I see why they have difficulty winning, mostly because it'd be a hard place to recruit to. I've been to about half the SBC campus now and this is the least impressive so far.

The athletic facilities are older. However, the track facility is getting a new track. There was no other construction going on on campus that I saw. Most of the buildings seem to have been built back in the 50-60's except the library, which is huge compared to everything else on campus. Also didn't look like there was room for much more new construction. The Bayou that runs through campus is actually very nice, not sure why they isn't emphasized more. There isn't much green space on campus either.

One question for the ULM people, what are the shed looking buildings that are in the visitor side stands on the football field, between the lower and upper sections??? Are those suites???

Sorry ULM, didn't mean to be negative about your campus. I realize finances have been tough in Louisiana, and I haven't been to other campus' in the state to compare. But you guys have a huge uphill climb in the facility wars.

Another observation, while in town I hear radio advertisement for LaTech football season tickets and have seen LaTech gear, other then right at campus you wouldn't know ULM exist here.

Best of luck ULM, you guys might need it more then any of us. 04-cheers

Hahaha the sheds.

Yeah, those are trailers on stilts used as suites.

Should have gone that half hour west to Ruston/Grambling. No nice way to put it, drive thru Grambling's campus and I promise you'll leave there think WTH did I just leave? The heyday of Grambling is long past athletically and administratively has been a train wreck. Should have been closed down long ago due to neglect and mismanagement, but that won't happen. Cheaper to run a dump than fight in court.

Meanwhile ULM and others, who honestly try, suffer. I'd have no problem if Tech made a takeover or collaboration play for Grambling.

It won't. Too logical to close a non functional government operation and have the closest university (Tech, 5 miles) take in its students. Not a shot at ULM, would benefit all. Except the leadership at Grambling, who should be unemployed.

First off at least we have an on campus stadium. Yeah you're getting one built but till then you don't have one.
You're just being a straight dick. This is a straight joke. That's fine but our campus isn't that bad.

Second last I remember for all the negative you just brought up we beat you. You need some luck yourself.
A lot of the on campus housing aren't that old. They built new buildings and redid some.

Yes those are suites and I can't defend that but I can ask about your suites? Till then ....

As predicted, will not end well...

The $17.4 million, 88,000-square-foot building is a “one-stop shop” for students, representing a step forward in the revitalization of ULM’s facilities. The building houses the university bookstore, the office of recruitment and admissions, the university registrar, financial aid, the scholarship office, campus radio station KXUL, an innovation center, and other core administrative departments.

If people are going to post stupid stuff it probably won't. Just providing facts on wrong information.

Are you blind or you didn't see the construction going on?

I believe Grambling had their nursing program shut down when nobody was able to pass their nursing exams

We're building new alumni center and the last old dorm is going to be torn down. I get our stadium suits and all that but to say nothing new but Library is a fn joke.

Guys, calm down. This is the first time I've ever been on campus so I don't know what's new and what's old. The campus itself is nice, just very congested and some of the building exteriors are older.

I stand by the athletic facilities, they are old. Compare to what others in the conference are offering for students, you guys are behind, in every sport.

Yes, I know, we don't have an OCS, but I'd take Ladd off campus over what you guys currently have on campus.

Tomorrow I'm heading over to LaTech and Grambling to have an instate comparison. I'd like to see Grambling just for the history, having grown up during the days of Coach Rob, that place was mythical.

You said you see why it's difficult to recruit. ULM rivals 1 USA 9. 247 ranking ULM 3 USA 8. Does that sound like we're having trouble? I mean we're above you right? Just need right coach and V uses the campus to land recruits guess you know more than him.

If you don't know what's old then why would come out boasting how bad it is? You were being a dick.
Don't disagree with you about athletics so you don't need to stand by your comment. No one disputes. Just brought facts up. Maybe you need better glasses to see what going on.

If tomorrow wasn't the 4th then I'd suggest the Eddie Robinson Museum at Grambling. What brings you to the area?

Oh yeah and the project I was involved with is the L Club (Lettermen Club) house. Totally redone inside and huge covered patio added. Right by the grove our on campus tailgating area that I put against anyone in the conference. Yes some schools may have more people tailgating but ours is shaded in designating area with trees n bayou not empty lot.

Golota, you can have your panties in a wad all you want. I stand by what I said.

Just explain how it's hard to recruit to ULM if we had higher recruiting rating in football? I don't have my panties in wade but if you're going post random stuff that's not very thought out or bright I am going to call you out. Come with something better next time. Lol
