Article: Wichita State President wants WSU to follow another AAC's school's lead - KnightLight - 06-26-2017 01:25 PM

Interesting article on how WSU is excited about leaving MVC for the AAC and how WSU could follow the lead of another AAC school that recently has jumped up a level or two in recent years.

Is Wichita State University basketball the key to prosperity?

Is UCF's 63,000 students all on one campus or is this number based on a bunch of online course enrollees. Because that number is ridiculous.

most are on campus. will continue to grow with the new downtown campus. this is how they can bankroll their athletics dept to play with the big boys.........student athletics fees.

Yes...main campus is where a huge majority of the students are...followed by the Rosen School of Hospitality Campus (by the Convention Center) and the Medical School/Health Science Campus at the Medical City in Lake Nona.

Growth at the main campus will be slowing down as UCF will focus much of their upcoming efforts for their new downtown campus with Valencia that will eventually have about 5,400 UCF students.

That number includes regional campuses that are within the central Florida area, but about 80% of that number is just on main campus.

UCF and USF are among the
"Top 100 Worldwide Universities Granted U. S. Utility Patents 2016".

That is great progress for young schools.

UH is also in that list.

The MWC rejected WSU when they were looking to join. I think they were in the MVC

Its my understanding that the MWC was a fallback plan ONLY if the AAC didn't put forward an invitiation. The MWC was WSU's second choice.

Do you have a link to prove that?

The AAC was absolutely WSU's top choice from the beginning and played the MWC

Sure it was. After cusa and the mwc said they didn't want any basketball only members.

Not quite. ECU is ranked #31 of 1426 top party schools, #1 in North Carolina. 04-rock

N'awlins and the Methodists are top 10. Something ECU can aspire to.

You may be right. Our very public overtures to the MWC may have been deliberate and intended to make the AAC **** or get off the pot. We had to move and we needed to be gone yesterday.

Let me make the MWC/AAC conversation simple and clear.

Who would we rather play - Wyoming at something like 7,200' elevation and the game ends after the East Coast media has gone to bed, or UConn at near sea level in prime time for the East Coast market?

The MWC doesn't really prioritize basketball. We learned that pretty early in the process of looking for a new conference.
