New Basketball Assistant - IMissBaskerville - 06-13-2017 11:29 AM

Rumors on Butch Pierre joining Tubby's staff. Great rep as a recruiter at high majors (N.C. State, Ok State, LSU). Unsure how this works because Lawson's role was not allowed to recruit. Played locally at Miss State so good familiarity with the area I would think.

So is somebody gone?

Lord knows we need help recruiting, especially in Mississippi

RE: New Basketball Assistant - Tiger1983 - 06-13-2017 12:22 PM

Thanks for the info.

The smart thing to do is replace Saul.

If they had moved someone 6 months ago we would not be in the mess we are in today. Closing the barn door after the horse has escaped

What if they delayed the "official" hiring until after the dead period in recruiting.....would Orlando get credit for that move?

IF Tubby manages to hire Pierre then you give him all the credit in the world. The current class is a slight step in the right direction. Nabbing Pierre would be another.

NOTHING in this deal will make Orlando look good.

Let's say he does make the hire. He has to make a move and most likely it will be moving Saul to a non recruiting position.

That will just prove the belief that Orlando was pissed that he was forced to keep Keelon and acted to drive out Keelon in order to send message to school that he is in charge. Which makes Orlando look small and petty.

ANY move which ends up with Saul being moved to a non recruiting position reflects directly on Orlando's motives and decision making..

Nothing great about this class, ranking is based on the number of players in class. All mid major talent at best.

Also NOT very likely that Pierre is interesting in the position since he JUST took an assistants job at NC St last year.

LOL
You still don't know how the class is measured

Also, I guess you overlooked all the major D1 offers.

Our freshmen all had major D1 offers.

Johnson - Wake Forest , Vandy, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Kansas State, Auburn, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia and more

Nickelberry - Florida, Texas, Florida State, USC, Vandy, Georgia, Miami, and many more

Enoh - Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Arkansas, Georgia, Vandy, UT, and more

Some of the Jucos had a few solid D1 offers as well.
Brewton - UT, Auburn, Ole Miss, Rutgers, etc
Thornton - Kansas State, Georgia, Depaul, etc
Davenport - Ole Miss and mid majors

You are the worst kind of fan. Downgrading players that committed to our program as mid-major just cuz you don't like a coach. Really shameful actually.

It seems you don't want Pierre to join our staff. Why?

Can this Dude bring in a Dude who can bust a TREY

lol. Delving into the personal psyches of our posters (the driving forces behind likes and dislikes) is kinda risky.

oui oui. Pierre est très bon! The dude can bring in a dude that can bust two treys in a row.

Meh
He's a poster that calls our incoming players mid major level at best although all the freshmen had major D1 offers and some jucos had solid D1 offers. Anyone who goes after our current players probably doesn't have the best interest of our program. So yes IMO he would prefer Pierre not joining our staff cuz of his "Orlando" hatred.

because it doesn't fit his pro-Pastner/anti-Tubby agenda

True enough. Most of us are predictable in our responses at this point.

But it might be fun to hear from the psyches of those who rarely post, and the lurkers..... lol. I wonder how we could draw out some of them.

RE: New Basketball Assistant - UofMemphis - 06-13-2017 08:31 PM

I wonder if NS State is still paying out his contract? I mean, take a staff position at Memphis for a year and collect two paychecks...help tubby recruit a few kids...go from there.

I think I remember Tubby saying he was considering changing the job title from 'dir of player development' to 'recruiting coordinator' or something like that.

Saul would then be an Asst who doesn't recruit...Pierre would be a staff member who recruits...odd, but whatever works.

Funny ain't it, he bashed players to protect Josh, now he has found a way to bash players cause he hates Tubby, you can't make this stuff up.
