Rice gets big-time transfer in women's basketball - Fort Bend Owl - 06-06-2017 04:41 PM

And the emphasis is clearly on big (or tall, she's pretty thin so calling her big isn't fair).

6-9 Nancy Mulkey is transferring to Rice from Oklahoma. She was a top-20 national recruit by some services a year ago, and started 20 games for the Sooners as a freshman. She played high school ball with the two younger Ogbuwike sisters who transferred to Rice from Pepperdine a year ago and who will be eligible to play this upcoming season.

Mulkey will have to sit out a year, but we are on target I'd say to be a top-25 team within two years, tops.

damn, 6'9?

She played at Greenwood High School here in BG as well. She moved away, of course, and that changed the landscape of basketball in this area with her gone. Seems like she was 6'4 or 5 when she was here.

A couple Rice fans have posted pictures of her on The Parliament. She is tall.

Really? based on what? WKU has been dominate last 3 seasons in women's hoops and was barely ranked for a few weeks.....If you are basing this on one player who can barely move, good luck to ya lol....You can have expectations but I am afraid you are setting yours up for failure...

No, not just one.

Erica Ogwumike

Olivia Ogwumike

she can move

Plus our other recruits and players are not exactly chopped liver.

Plus having players like this on the roster will attract better talent the next couple of years.

Erica Ogwumike earned 1st team all-WCC honors as a freshman at Pepperdine and led the Waves in scoring and rebounding (18.4 points, 7.5 rebounds). Neither of the younger Ogwumike sisters are as tall as the older two (who were each all-Americans at Stanford and the 1st overall picks in their respective WNBA drafts) - Erica is 5-9, Olivia is 5-10 Erica will have 3 years of eligibility beginning this upcoming season. Olivia will have 2. We also have a commitment from a top-60 recruit (point guard here in Houston) for 2018.

We keep everyone together and healthy, and yes, I think we will be in the mix for a top-25 spot in two years tops.

It says her mom is 6'7". I wonder how tall Dad is.

You could tell in the photos that her mom was really tall. I'm guessing the dad is about 6-0?

According to the source I found, Dad is 5-9, little brother is 7-2.
