How about if we keep playing at Miami we at least demand the TV rights so the game gets on a station I can watch?

Why do you have so many issues getting CBS SN?

I get CBS SN just fine.

It is ESPN3 (which is just a crappy pain in the butt) and the Time Warner Sports Channel (that only people who choose a bad cable provider get) that cause me problems.

I haven't seen any UC games on Time Warner Sports ever. ESPN 3 is available on every Roku, FireTV device, Xbox, Playstation, computer, tablet, and phone. I have no issues ever watching those games.

Just take your laptop and HDMI it to your tv and bingo...ESPN3 on the big screen (or whatever).

Not sure any of the 37 Miami fans would either.

My issue with CBS SN is that its hard to get, and there are no online streaming options. Every major network/sports network are easily availible online. CBS SN being some super premium channel seems to have none of that functionality, and last season only about 5 providers could log in online.

I can stream all Blue Jackets games on Fox Sports. EPL, F1 and IndyCar are all easily available on NBC Sports. Most all college sports are easily accessible through Watch ESPN. Hell, the Golf Channel offers a simulcast of coverage online. Yet CBS SN is locked behind a bunch of packages that I will never pay for.

Agree. What's more, the majority of people do not get CBS Sports on their basic cable tier. For Direct TV, which is my provider, I have to upgrade two tiers (about $15/month) to get the Choice Tier. Since 1/3 of UC's football and basketball games are on CBS Sports, I have made the decision to pay the money--- but I can see why a lot of people would make the choice not to pay the extra coin.

If it is not on why not. I thought it would at least be on ESPN 3. Anyone know the story?

If you owned KYUCAT Sports, Inc., would you buy the broadcast rights knowing that maybe 20 people will tune in?

Would you buy rights to Duke women's softball? ESPN did.

No, I wouldn't.

ESPN's actions merely show yet another action why they are losing money like crazy. Their losses are now impacting the theme parks. A close friend of mine works there in IT. They now have to get written approval for any purchase over $100 for any consumable item. That is not good!

RE: UC vs Miami of Ohio football game on TV ? - Miami (Oh) Yeah ! - 06-05-2017 12:25 PM

ESPN3 is the bare minimum for any MAC game. The fact that this was not listed as ESPN3 already when the MAC listed out the first 3 weeks of TV schedule indicates very strongly that this game will be on TV other that or in addition to ESPN3. If you look at the MAC TV presser it also doesnt show any TV listed for MAC games at Big Ten stadiums. Its not that it wont be on TV, its just they are waiting to see if it will be on ESPN channel, Fox Channel, or at a minimum the Big Ten Network (their minimum coverage version of ESPN3). Miami vs. UC will either be a national channel like ESPNews / CBS Sports Network or a regional + ESPN3 like Fox Sports Ohio AND ESPN3 or possibly the ASN/Stadium channel AND ESPN3. If it was just going to be on only ESPN3 then they would have already marked it as such.

Concerning the Miami vs UC series, our AD has stated recently that the series is continuing and will be renewed soon but was put on the back-burner when the UC AD got busy with the Fickel coaching search and other things. But it is happening. He did mention it could be a combination of Home/Home and another PBS game.

So the only people who can see the game on TV are the ones who live close enough to attend in person. What a rivalry!

Seriously? They have lights?

What a pain trying to walk to the corn field parking lots in the dark.

Wait... so I can't even watch the game on TV an hour and a half up the road in Columbus?

RE: UC vs Miami of Ohio football game on TV ? - Bearcat2012 - 06-12-2017 01:48 PM

The game will be televised locally by FOX 19 (WXIX) and is available on ESPN3, WatchESPN.com and the ESPN app.

Oh good. I was going to say... I can't remember the last time a game wasn't at least on ESPN3.

Army at Ohio State is on FOX also on the same day, 4:30 ET.

I hope:

(1) that game is a close game into the 4th Quarter and running long,

(2) then WXIX switches away from the game to show the UC/MU opening kickoff

(3) thus angering the Bucknuts who live in SW Ohio, while also sending a message that SW Ohio is Bearcat territory, not Poisonous Nut territory.

(4) then Ohio State loses to Army!

(5) Miami beats UC in front of the largest home crowd we've had for years (yeah yeah I know that's not saying much)

04-cheers

I'd be interested in seeing if some of the regional Fox Sports networks pick up the game. What else is going on in Ohio or Michigan at 8 PM on a Saturday? Big Ten games will be on the BTN or ESPN networks, Big 12 is probably too far away for a middling matchup like Kansas-Texas Tech to be broadcast all the way into Ohio. Depends on if the Reds are playing I guess.

September 16th Reds at home plat at 4:10pm because its Octoberfest weekend.

So I hope UC schedules Miami next year 2018 on Octoberfest weekend. Oh
The Bengals play home Thursday night Sept 14th against Houston.

Yep.

They need those lights for all the Tuesday night November MAC-tion games (airing on ESPNU) against Buffalo or Akron that 76 fans actually show up for.
