They had 3 great wins against Virginia, Duke and Florida State. They were left out due to some bad losses against Boston College and St Johns mainly. Wins against the top 50 isn't why they were left out.

It appears NMSU has played tougher schedules in the past so maybe I misspoke on them.

Don't have to play top 100 teams but avoid 300+ ranked teams in non conference.
I know being on the west coast makes this hard as there aren't as many teams to choose from.
You do realize that better OOC record a team has, the more likely the they are to have a weak OOC SOS. SOS is a bad stat. Look at the RPI of a team cause the committee isn't going to be looking at bs like SOS. They care about top 50 wins and top 100 wins.

The Committee really isn't going to be looking at anything for a WAC school beside the conference tournament win. Maybe it matters a little when it comes to seeding, but SOS is an otherwise garbage metric for teams in a one bid league.

Would like to mention that SOS is not a bs metric entirely. Vanderbilt got in purely because of their SOS.

Unfortunately, a Power conference program can lay a couple of stinkers ans still get a bid and reasonable seed. For a MidMajor, it is the kiss of death when it comes to getting a bid. It is not fair, but that is the way it is and has been.

On paper, to begin the 2017 season the Aggies had a decent schedule. It's not our fault that UTEP, UNM, Air Force and ASU had bad seasons. Colorado St came in second in the MWC regular season and UC Irvine won the the regular season BW title.

Gleadly already commented on GCU's 2017 schedule. So I am going to assume you are kidding.

Having a 19-15 record also didn't help. I'm glad they were left out. There is no way a team with 15 losses should ever get an at-large. I don't care how many impressive wins you have. 15 losses is way too many.

Seattle U has released the full schedule. Hayford already scheduling a way tougher (wayyy tougher) schedule than Dollar ever did.

Weird how Washington State is finally playing SU. Dollar said they refused every year he was there. Glad to see the UW and EWU rivalries will continue too.

CSUB draws the host Alaska-Anchorage in the Great Alaska Shootout. Very winnable tournament here and the best draw in the first round. Wouldn't meet likely the other best team College of Charleston until the final.

Careful, they were 21-8 last year and 17-2 at home (where this is played). And have beaten a D1 team in the tourny the last 3 years. Unlikely, but dont take UAA *too* lightly

I was reading about them they lost like everyone. They're also still a D2 team. It's objectively the best draw.

Is Sekou Wiggs still there? He was so good at Idaho, was hoping SU would pick him up but he went D2. Definitely was a D1 talent

UAA did lose all five starters but they add four D1 transfers; three Pacific transfers Maleke Haynes (5'10, PG... 1.2 ppg & 1.3 rpg) ), D.J. Ursery (6'5, SG... 6.0 ppg & 2.3 rpg), & Jacob Lampkins (6'9, C... 6.4 ppg & 4.7 rpg) and one North Dakota State transfer Malik Clements (6'3, SG... 6.3 ppg & 2.2 rpg) ... plus two JUCOs and four new Freshmen.

I'm not sure how quickly UAA can build their team chemistry before meeting CSUB? BTW, UAA is a bigger team than CSUB. Although, I don't think it will matter since the Roadrunner players possess superior speed and athleticism.

The year Murray St went 31-2, hosted College Gameday, and finished top 25, their closest win was...Alaska-Anchorage! That program is always a pistol to beat.

It will be interesting as UAA has a pretty decent DII history. Strange, I don't recall playing them in post season all that much when we were DII. Maybe I've just forgotten.
