7 - Left field
8 - Center field
9 - Right field
So, the play went "7-2-6", or Left Field (made the catch) to Catcher (made the tag at home plate) to Shortstop (made the tag at 3rd base).

In baseball, all fielders are listed by number. Pitcher is 1, catcher 2, 1st baseman 3 etc.
Leftfielder (7) caught fly ball, threw to catcher (2) for tag out, who threw to short stop (6) to the last out.

I never knew that. I'm not really a baseball fan. I would have gone with...
1 = 1st
2 = 2nd.....
but I guess they're numbered in sequence of where the ball / runner typically moves. (?)

I'm not sure how or why the numbers started but if you look at the baseball diamond with the pitcher being number 1 and the catcher number 2, the rest rotates from 1st base number three around the infield until you get to the 3rd baseman number 5, following the outfield with LF number 7 rotating to RF number 9.
The most common double play is the groundball 6 to 4 to 3 because most batters hit right handed and pull the ball. That DP was made famous by the famous DP Tinkers to Evers to Chance.
The 5-4-3 double play is sometimes called the "Around the horn" double play.
On a sides note third baseman are know to play the "Hot Corner" because the ball gets to them the fastest out of any of the fielder other then potentially the pitcher who rarely fields smashes back at them since they are out of position after throwing the ball. The catcher wears the "tools of ignorance" (face mask, chest protector, etc.) when he steps behind the plate. The centerfielder has the most range in the outfield while the shortstop has great range and a great throwing arm.
