Clayton Hughes red flags? - TigerG07 - 04-16-2017 03:17 PM

Does anyone know what the deal with Clayton Hughes is? I keep seeing on Twitter that there were some red flags with him and that's why he wasn't offered by some bigger schools. Supposedly he did something that made UCF rescind their scholarship offer and he was kicked out of high school. Anyone know what happened?

let's play 'previous transgressions'

was it more Austin Nichols or Derrick Rose/Steven Black fight?

It is showing that we never offered on 247. I thought we did?

I think we're waiting to hear from Darrington...if he says 'no' then we offer Hughes.

just my guess.

Different skills. I'd like them both and one more big...

What about the big guy? I saw he did not have offer to Memphis. Is he coming to visit. We need to close some deals.

I hope nothing goes wrong, because I would love to offer this kid. If something happened to Hughes, he looks smart enough to fight his way back from trouble.04-cheers

Im only 30 minutes away, and I can tell you, by talking to people that knows him says he is a smart guy in class and on the court. I just haven't heard anything about the events yet. I'm sure that I can find out.04-cheers

Here is what I've been told. The only thing that I can say is: that their was a kid that was being bullied by a couple of people, and from the source that told me that he came to the boys rescue and a big fight broke out with more students getting involved and the school got involved. That is what I'm hearing. If anything changes, then I guess it will come out sooner or later. No big deal to me...04-cheers

To my knowledge the reason Hughes didn't go to UCF had more to do with Donnie Jones getting axed more so than anything else. Donnie Jones/staff recruited Clayton Hughes not Johnny Dawkins. This stuff happens all the time.

He's a smart kid. In fact he made the deans list at Hargrave. I mean he did go to USJ for basically 4 years so he's obviously a smart kid. USJ is very tough academic private school in Jackson, TN.

All the other stuff about red flags seems to be really overblown. There is nothing to be alarmed about. This would be a HUGE pick up for Memphis. Kids going to play somewhere for sure and is going to be a productive player for 4 years.

I see no reason to dredge up the kids past or any of the JUCO kids either for that matter. I mean kids go JUCO for a variety of reasons, mainly academic short comings....which is fine because it is still an opportunity.

Guys, let's hold off on speculation and rumor regarding things of the personal nature. Just not a good look. Much appreciated.

I'd love to have the kid on the team. High level player, IMO.

Sounds good to me. Sign me up for signing him. There's a reason we aren't hearing anything, obviously it's quite hush hush with how many scholarships they are going to use and who they want and who they are waiting on.
