UAB Seat Allocation - CyberBlazer - 04-08-2017 03:10 PM

FYI: As a season ticket holder, I received my poor man’s version of a PSL in the mail today. It reads in part;

You are invited to attend your personal UAB Football Seat Allocation Appointment on May 9, 2017 2:10pm.

RE: UAB Seat Allocation - blazers9911 - 04-08-2017 07:05 PM

I received that too. I'm out of town and definitely can't make it the date they had on that paper. Will they just assign us seats in that case?

According to the letter I received, you can reschedule your appointment or make alternative plans by calling 205-996-9969. But it is "Noted" that by rescheduling outside of your designated appointment time "could" result in the loss of your priority seating status. So I guess, depending on how you read it, they will arbitrarily assign you seats. Hopefully, as a season ticket holder, they will still be good seats.

Yeah I mean I live an hour and a half away, and being given an appointment in the middle of the week doesn't really work for me. I'm hoping not being there in person isn't going to be an issue.

Has all the makings of another Mark Cluster Duck.

It won't . It can be handled on the phone .

Yes it can be done on the phone. I called Thursday and they said we can just do it over the phone.

I really wasn't thrilled about getting a letter with an appointment I had no chance of getting to. I really don't understand why this is necessary to begin with, they can't just email or mail me my seats?

How would you like it if you ordered tickets and they scheduled an appointment for you in the middle of the work week?

It has been clarified that it can be done by phone. That should solve the issue.

Damn...this thread alone qualifies us for some sort of ranking in BleacherReport's "Most Whiny Fans" list this year.

The fact they sent out these letters and make special appointments has been viewed as a very exciting thing for most of what I've seen outside of this board.

I don't think the process as a whole is terrible, there does need to be a bit of common sense used. Such as don't schedule someone who lives 100 miles + from Birmingham in the middle of a mid-week workday to start with.

They just need to start thinking things through before moving forward. (like that will ever happen)

The letter I got was pretty clear that if you need to reschedule you can reschedule, but if you schedule it too late you may not get the same seat priority. It also suggested that it can be done over the phone.

This is a nonissue.

The bigger issue is the waste of time that would involve contacting everybody to make an appointment time or using a system just so people can pick an appointment time they'll likely reschedule anyway.

I see nothing wrong with what was done other than possibly making the rescheduling wording slightly more clear and big and bold. The scheduling was done as efficiently as you could expect from a process like this. The invites are more ceremonial than anything else as most people will probably just call in anyway.

Obviously a nonissue to you or me. But don't be so arrogant to assume it's a nonissue to everyone.

I am able to read believe it or not. And the fact that I have paid for season tickets and made the commitment to drive from out of town for every home game should mean something. Getting a letter stating we scheduled a midweek appointment is annoying to me. If you don't understand how that would be irritating I don't know what more to say. I'm glad you can just come and go from work as you please I guess? Rescheduling it for any weekday is pretty much a nonstarter for me. I'll get whatever seats the assign me.

RE: UAB Seat Allocation - demiveeman - 04-10-2017 06:26 PM

I don't even know why people think they should do weekend appointments for this since these are people that work 9-5 just like anybody else. Even if they did...if they had automatically assumed that everybody that was out of town should get a weekend appointment there would still be people on this board complaining that they have to come in during their highly coveted weekend just to pick their seats.

Guess what... YOU DON'T HAVE TO COME IN.

It was just a gesture of appreciation and giving a specific time slot to meet in person was an attempt to make early season ticket holders feel special.

It obviously didn't make some people feel special enough.

And they call MY age group snowflakes.
