Way too early top 25 rankings - bcat1997 - 04-04-2017 12:07 PM

I think they mixed up Clark and Washington.

24. Cincinnati Bearcats

Cincinnati has some serious backcourt gaps to fill in, Troy Caupain's chief among them. Good news: Jarron Cumberland was really good off the bench as a freshman. Jacob Evans was already good in big minutes (including 42 percent shooting from 3) not off the bench. And, most important, coach Mick Cronin has the core of what he does -- which should be capitalized, though the editors won't allow it -- back in full force. Gary Clark, who posted a 124.0 offensive rating and 12.3 percent offensive rebounding percentage, while shooting 58 percent from 2, is back. But most important, 6-foot-9 rising senior Kyle Washington, who accounted for 28 percent of Cincinnati's shots and 26 percent of its possessions, is likely to return for his senior year. The backcourt should sort itself out. Cincinnati will do what it does.

For more on how the Bearcats will look in 2017-18, check out Cincinnati's returning players and incoming recruits and ESPN RecruitingNation's class rankings.

There's 4 others listed on the next year thread

Sporting News....

14. Cincinnati Bearcats
Why they’re here: The Bearcats had five guys average at least 8.3 points per game this season, and four of them are expected back. That’s pretty darn good, considering those guys formed the core of a team that won 30 games this season. Plus, former Sacred Heart star guard Cane Broome — he averaged 23.1 points as a sophomore and was the Northeast Conference Player of the Year — will be eligible after sitting out this year as a transfer. Mick Cronin just wins at Cincinnati.

I've seen a hand full of these since yesterday most putting UC in the 12-18 range. ESPN (surprise, surprise) is the lowest Ive seen.

They also said that KJ (a career 30% 3pt shooter) was a serious deep threat...so yeah, put that review in the trash 03-lmfao

It would be a major disappointment not to be ranked pre-season with many believing this will be Mick's best team in '17/'18. Will this year's early exit from the tournament have a chilling effect on next season's rankings? It would appear so given Cincy's returning talent when we see a #24 from at least one of these "experts".

I watched Troy play some in that Reese's All-Star game and the commentators were complimentary of him but quick to add that UC didn't advance out of the first weekend.

Cumberland has real star potential and should be great. I can't help but wonder if any freshman in this incoming class will rise to his level. The program is at a point where the roster must be reloaded annually to sustain (and build upon) this past season's success.

ESPN completely forgot about Broome. ESPN not doing their homework, as usual.

We're not P5 or one of the 2-3 darling "mid majors".

First Lunardi Bracketology for 2017. UC 4 seed, SMU 4 seed, Wichita State 3 seed (Fully expecting them to join AAC). Do think the AAC adding Wichita State could help the perception of the conference, but I'll believe it when I see it.
