He has great 3% & FT%, but a little concerned that he only averaged 8 & 3 and play less than half of each game (avg 16 min/gm)

My guess on some of these offers you will see from Memphis is that the staff is at Hutchinson for the NJCAA tourney. Freeman just went off yesterday, so he probably got offers based on that.

The other aspect of some of these JC offers is guys that had a year in a DI program. I think that lessens the learning curve, even if they didn't play much - from acclimating to classes, the weight program, the grind of a full season, practices, etc.

Freeman makes the second JC player I've heard that the staff has offered with previous DI experience.

Whether that means anything or not, time will tell.

Might be a nice filler...dude played 1 mpg at Kansas State and was the 6th/7th man for his JUCO team.

Logic would dictate if one is the 6th or 7th player on a JUCO team, what does that make you on a D1 team?

Right, if he's your athletic 3PT specialist off the bench and is in the 10 man, then it may be okay.

He's supposed to be a legit 6-6 and athletic.

But you get worried when the offer a guy who averages 9 ppg and he doesn't jump at the offer, especially when the other offers are Long Beach and New Mexico.

I looked at the three guys who graduated from NW FL last year and how they fared this year:

Shadell Millinghaus (NJCAA Hon Mention AA): (TTech): 3.9 ppg
William Pfister: (FAU): 2.8 ppg
Keith Pickney: (ODU): 0.0 ppg

Then I feel bad when he signs here, people watch a Youtube video of him then expect him to be an 8 and 5 guy next year.

RE: Ron Freeman - 6-6 G/F 2017 Northwest Florida CC - OkaloosaTiger - 03-22-2017 10:18 AM

Freeman is a bench guy behind Jared Wilson-Frame (conference POY), Daryl Edwards, and Andres Feliz. In the couple games I watched this year nothing about Freeman stood out in my mind.

RE: Ron Freeman - 6-6 G/F 2017 Northwest Florida CC - salukiblue - 03-22-2017 10:22 AM

I'm not trying to bag on the guy, just that it is concerning with three or four open spots Memphis is offering a dude who likely will be a 3 & 3 guy.

Have you seen anything about any offers for Jeromy Rodriguez?

RE: Ron Freeman - 6-6 G/F 2017 Northwest Florida CC - k2tigers - 03-22-2017 10:36 AM

depending on what both Lawsons do, we could conceivably sign 4 guys, though I'd rather not go so deep into the always uncertain JUCO market at the expense of future recruiting classes

I'd literally offer the top 5 sophomores from San Jacinto's top 8 rotation.

Odds are at least 3 will pan out in some form or fashion.

This offer is mildly alarming given the kid's stats and how many scholarships they have to give AND what they were hoping to land.

Either they expect more attrition or they are going to miss on their top targets OR this is the best they can do.

The only other option is they expect this kid to perform/contribute, which would be a helluva evaluation given his current offers and current role on his JC team.

The kid shoots well from deep and the line.

Maybe they are seeing something only a few other DI staffs are seeing.

Like I said, could be a helluva evaluation.

Haven't checked out ANY video on this guy....I appreci8 your perspectives on this as it seems as though this is a reach at a filler role ! Or this is ALL we can muster and this is a HOPE & PRAYER scenario 03-hissyfit

Scored 8 points today.

But his team beat the #1 seed San Jacinto to move on to the NJCAA Final Four.

RE: Ron Freeman - 6-6 G/F 2017 Northwest Florida CC - HoopDreams - 03-24-2017 09:26 PM

His team lost tonight.
