This is bull****, 37 (not including the play in games) power conference schools, so lame. Big Ten didn't deserve to get as many in as it did for sure, would have to check out the rest to see how well deserved those selections are.

I've always thought that, with a 36 RPI, Kent should have been an at-large in 2000.
Obviously Dan Dakich thinks Bowling Green should have been in, too, with a regular season championship and a 57 RPI. But I always thought the omission of Kent State was an even bigger injustice.

In a permanent 1-bid league, the regular season feels relatively meaningless, aside from some jockeying around for seeding in the conference tourney. Don't get me wrong, it's still fun to follow. But when you're in the MAC, you know everyone resets to 0-0 at the beginning of March and you'd better not have one subpar day in Cleveland.
Still, unlike college football bowl season, March Madness still has that special exclusivity feeling that feels like a big reward, seeing as only a small-ish fraction get it.
However, unlike college football, 2nd place is about as bad as last place. Even the lousiest bowl gets more recognition than an NIT game.

Maybe... but MSG has a famous following and gets good air time. Bowl pickem kind of keeps people interested in the 42 bowl games, but outside of that? MSG for the NIT is special for a midmajor. No one in our conference is getting that far so the point is moot. But if I'm choosing between the beefobradys bowl and an NIT final 4? I'll take the ladder. If you win the NIT its generally accepted that you should have been a trade in for the years least producing bubble team. Beating a 22 win ACC squad still means something in late March. Beating a 7 win sun belt team in a bowl game? Mehh.

Obviously college football has a much larger following, but another factor is there are only 42 bowl games and they are spread across an entire month. March Madness alone has 67 games. If you're trying to follow that plus the NIT and whatever other tournaments that like 100+ games. I do agree winning NIT should be worth more than winning Idaho Potato Bowl.
