STR-South Region is loaded - Penny Lane - 03-12-2017 10:43 PM

Three Blue bloods, best two mid majors: Butler and Wichita St. Cal coming back for first time since leaving. Cincy and Arky. Tubby's old team Minny coming in with Little Ricky. Lot of good stories.

Remember when Tigers played in first round here in Keith Lee years: beat the tar out of Purdue and Keady chunked his plaid jacket into the first 10 rows behind the bench. Tigers won easy. Karl Malone played here with LaTech. Could tell then he was a stud.

Butler is not a mid-major.

If you aren't in the P5 you are a midmajor by definition.

Hope all the Memphis fans who still love Calipari buy tickets to help sell out the Forum and personally welcome Cal back to Memphis, showing him their appreciation for what he did while he was here.

Won't need Memphis fans to do that. KY travels 3 times better than any other team in CBB.

You got that right, they will fill the Forum! They have a bigger fan base that travel to their away games than most teams put in their own building!!

Beale Street should be real interesting that night. Glad I won't be in town. Go Hogs!

Don't all those teams have to win a couple of games before they get here? Aren't there usually upsets in the tourney?

Don't even have to scalp. Tiger BB season ticket holders get first dibs on tickets around the time the regional location is announced - can easily sell them on stub-hub, etc.

Well I'm talking about those hard working fellows out in front of the forum. It's been a bad year for them with the Tigers being down and Lebron no showing.

Ah understood. Yeah they are probably starving this year.

I hope they do win to get here but you're right. When the Regional was here three years ago Florida played UCLA in one game (the 1 seed vs 4 seed) so that held but the other game was 10 seed Stanford playing 11 seed Dayton. Don't remember who 2 and 3 was that year but they never made it out of the first weekend. As a ticketholder I'm pretty sure I wasn't that excited about Stanford and Dayton although to be fair, Dayton brought many fans. When they won Thursday and got to play the Elite Eight on Saturday, it was like half the town of Dayton decided to drive down. Florida handled them pretty easily but they had a great time in Memphis that Saturday. I remember Kentucky playing at The Pyramid in the 90's for the NCAA's first round and it was something to see. To say they travel well is an understatement. Hope they survive to the Regional here.
