Although technically when he does get the ax, it'll be because his contract expires. RE: College hoops coaches Out and In - GoldenWarrior11 - 03-05-2017 06:23 PM Do we want to add George Washington to the list? RE: College hoops coaches Out and In - megadrone - 03-05-2017 06:24 PM Barring a run in the Big 10 tournament, John Groce at Illlinois is likely out. RE: College hoops coaches Out and In - GoldenWarrior11 - 03-05-2017 06:34 PM Crean is likely gone too. Jim Christian could get canned as well. RE: College hoops coaches Out and In - esayem - 03-05-2017 06:34 PM How about LSU? They are having a dismal season with a 5th year coach. RE: College hoops coaches Out and In - IWokeUpLikeThis - 03-05-2017 06:53 PM Despite no NIT/NCAA in 6 seasons and annual 200+ RPIs following a Counzo Martin mvc title and Barry Hinson netting them a couple top 30 rpi's in the last dozen years, Missouri State announced Paul Lusk will return for his 7th season. So enthusiastic, MSU President Cliff Smart fired a shot at the fan base's disintegrating attendance with "I'd encourage you to hang around but if you want to drop out for a year, we'll welcome you back when we're heading to the NCAA tournament next March". MoJo might just get the permanent position. He's done a good job. No idea what the AD is thinking about it, but that job might not be open. Lonergan got tossed before the year began. I wouldn't say he was let go in 1797. He made the contract into a 4 year contract with only a 4 year extension when the conference (USA) members (the people) wanted to make him King for life. Cheers! RE: College hoops coaches Out and In - 10thMountain - 03-05-2017 09:04 PM I wish our Big Cigars cared enough about our basketball for our coach to be on this list but they don't and it'll be 6 of 7 years with no NCAA tournament trip. All they care about is he's a nice guy who goes to the right church and has a really unfortunate personal health issue so they're content to let our MBB team be a jobs program for him for as long as he wants it and if it kills our program then oh well RE: College hoops coaches Out and In - MissouriStateBears - 03-05-2017 09:23 PM (03-05-2017 06:53 PM)IWokeUpLikeThis Wrote: Despite no NIT/NCAA in 6 seasons and annual 200+ RPIs following a Counzo Martin mvc title and Barry Hinson netting them a couple top 30 rpi's in the last dozen years, Missouri State announced Paul Lusk will return for his 7th season. And attendance has dropped from 7,500 a game to around 4,000. Real smart move by the president and athletic department to keep the loser especially when private funds were available. Pick your seat at JQH Arena next year. RE: College hoops coaches Out and In - The Cutter of Bish - 03-05-2017 10:52 PM Pat Chambers keeps his job at Penn State. Have to believe next year is it. Texas AM just went to the sweet 16 last year and TCU just hired Jamie Dixon who had TCU on the bubble and looks like they will go to the NIT. The future is bright for the frogs. Dear god.... Talk about throwing your athletic future out the window. Yep. The fan base is pissed. We had the buyout raised, pretty much had the next coach picked out (Steve Forbes or Steve Woodberry), president vetoed it. Then he shoots his mouth off in the press conference. It's a shame he has wrecked the bell cow program. Academically he has the university on a roll. Crazy how that side has just blown up along with facilities and enrollment. RE: College hoops coaches Out and In - dxdtdemon - 03-06-2017 05:37 AM Despite the steep decline of the program and his massive failures at recruiting the last six years, Thad Matta is likely going to keep his job. School leaders need to stop talking down to and about their students, fans, and alumni, too. They seem to forget how their bread is buttered. |
