The following is entitled, "TV negotiations with C-USA":

ESPN: "C-USA, we'll give you the sh!ttiest schedule we have and you'll like it!"

C-USA: "Thank you sir, can we have another?"

Thus ends "TV negotiations with C-USA"...

"It somewhere between bad and OK. "I'm not sure we could ask for much better in the current landscape. I don't think it helps us grow our brand because it doesn't reach enough people."

SUNWACUSA also launched its own in-house network last year. Member schools are responsible for producing games and subscription revenue goes right back to the schools. MacLeod said some schools are getting a lot better but have more to do quite frankly.

I'm sorry, I know some of you think debt is a great thing, but this is f-ing nuts. This is why college football is being destroyed ...

Quote:Michigan's debt is expected to grow to $371 million by 2046, which is still lower than Cal's current $445-million debt.
...
A reason for that is due to the Big Ten signing a new six-year media rights deal with ESPN, that coupled with FOX and CBS Sports, would bring in $2.64 billion over six years, roughly $188.6 million to each school during that duration.

"We plan conservatively," Hegarty said, who added the university as a whole carries a $2.1-billion debt total.

And Dan Mullens' new contract extension gets him 4.5 million annually...that's unreal. Hop only gets 500k...it's amazing when you see how much other schools can pay.

Pretty close to that, but don't complain about it on here. Don't make any comments about how we need to be trying to get coaches and pay them up over 1 mil or we're just pissing in the wind. Don't make any comments about how we need to at the very least be paying them competitive CUSA salaries...... Don't dare do that, or you will be considered an idiot.

Am I wrong in thinking that universities that are state funded in MS are required to have a balanced budget every year? For some reason I thought this was truth. That is why we are held back in a sense because we stay within our means (which are minimal). MS and OM are light years ahead because of private donors and sec welfare. I could totally be wrong about this though.

You can have a balanced budget and have debt. We have debt now, for the suites.

I recall hearing the RG/John Miller were handling the sales and the story went they were sold on the cheap and could have sold them for a lot more.

Anything to that?

I haven't heard that. They service the debt. I don't know if they make any scratch off them or not. There's a few open now as well.

I looked it up, $500k is accurate: http://sports.usatoday.com/ncaa/salaries

That's good for last in CUSA:
David Bailiff $903,556
Frank Wilson $835,000
Seth Littrell $815,000
Jeff Brohm $808,720
Rick Stockstill $804,004
Doc Holliday $765,320
Ron Turner $610,731
Brad Lambert $600,000
Charlie Partridge $591,250
Bobby Wilder $569,590
Sean Kugler $515,332
Skip Holtz $515,000
Jay Hopson $500,000

What I think is even worse than HC pay, we are also last in Assistant Coach pay.

It's worse when you realize this would rank us in the bottom 1/3 of the Sunbelt as well:

Mark Hudspeth $1,100,000
Blake Anderson $700,000
Neal Brown $660,000
Everett Withers $650,000
Joey Jones $525,000
Trent Miles $537,405
Scott Satterfield $525,000
Tyson Summers $500,000
Paul Petrino $417,104
Matt Viator $390,000
Doug Martin $376,044

As of the last time I saw numbers--granted, that's been a few years and the two up north's recent football successes probably changed things--our year-to-year numbers were remarkably similar outside of the conference revenue, surprisingly so. There was a brief discussion about it on EaglePost at the time. IIRC, the info came via a Clarion-Ledger feature.
