Hofstra at JMU MBB- Regular Season Finale/Senior Day - NJDuke97 - 02-25-2017 08:25 AM Senior Day ceremonies start at 11:45 and this one is being broadcast on ASN. For us Northerners it's tape delayed on SNY at 3PM. Coach Rowe used more players on Thursday that the prior Thursday. He played 9- Johnson was the only scholarship player available who didn't log minutes. Hofstra has been playing well since their big man Rokas Gustys returned from a leg injury. They have beaten Northeastern and William & Mary on the road and played UNCW close at home. I think this will be a very tough game for JMU. Wright Foreman has really come into his own as a scorer (went for 25 earlier this year against JMU) and Gustys is a load to deal with down low. I'm not sure if JMU has someone to match up with Foreman- Kent usually guards Benardi and McLean has a size disadvantage. In past games Satkius has played well against his fellow countryman (13 in the first meeting this year). We will need another good effort from Paulius today on Senior Day. Gustys is prone to foul trouble and he is a horrible free throw shooter. The Dukes don't have as many fouls to throw at him as past games with reduced depth up front but it was good to see Tom V come back last game and also to Serb continue his effective play on offense. Hofstra plays a little loose and up and down so there will be shots, lanes, and 3s to be had. A couple of other Seniors- Kent and Brown will have opportunities if they are feeling it from long range. JMU 74 Hofstra 71 RE: Hofstra at JMU MBB- Regular Season Finale/Senior Day - jmuduke10 - 02-25-2017 09:58 AM Lets go Dukes! Been a disappointing season, but hope there is a decent turnout for the seniors RE: Hofstra at JMU MBB- Regular Season Finale/Senior Day - Wear Purple - 02-25-2017 10:05 AM Heading out now. Looking forward to a good game. Both teams should play loose and we may get a high-scoring affair. Go Dukes!! RE: Hofstra at JMU MBB- Regular Season Finale/Senior Day - Hart Foundation - 02-25-2017 11:59 AM Hofstra 78 JMU 73 RE: Hofstra at JMU MBB- Regular Season Finale/Senior Day - jmuduke10 - 02-25-2017 12:04 PM Game opened as basically a pick'em in vegas RE: Hofstra at JMU MBB- Regular Season Finale/Senior Day - Hart Foundation - 02-25-2017 12:08 PM Dukes open in the 3-2 zone for the first time this year. Have already coaxed 2 missed 3's from Hofstra. Cabarkapa starting and hits a three All is well RE: Hofstra at JMU MBB- Regular Season Finale/Senior Day - jmuduke10 - 02-25-2017 12:10 PM Good Lord, nothing but 3pt shots RE: Hofstra at JMU MBB- Regular Season Finale/Senior Day - Hart Foundation - 02-25-2017 12:11 PM We'll see how long Rowe keeps his group of seniors on the floor. Will Satkus replace Lukic or Cabarkapa or vodanovich? RE: Hofstra at JMU MBB- Regular Season Finale/Senior Day - #YEEHAWDUKES - 02-25-2017 12:11 PM Dukes crush 8-0 Good with the 3 hit shutout Edit: wrong thread but more important than mbb RE: Hofstra at JMU MBB- Regular Season Finale/Senior Day - Hart Foundation - 02-25-2017 12:12 PM Haha Satkus replaces Cabarkapa who had a three and 2 rebounds in 4 minutes. Rowe hates to select offense over defense RE: Hofstra at JMU MBB- Regular Season Finale/Senior Day - Hart Foundation - 02-25-2017 12:29 PM Apparently Rowe hasn't instructed bigs to foul the Schit out of Gustys. Or they aren't listening. Come on! He shoots 25% from the line! He should Never get off a shot in the paint. JMU has 2 fouls to give from their bigs RE: Hofstra at JMU MBB- Regular Season Finale/Senior Day - jmuduke10 - 02-25-2017 12:33 PM Almost 9 minute scoring drought. Hope no one took the over RE: Hofstra at JMU MBB- Regular Season Finale/Senior Day - HyperDuke - 02-25-2017 12:34 PM Only game I've attended this year. Wow, the offense is bad. Went like 8 minutes without a bucket. RE: Hofstra at JMU MBB- Regular Season Finale/Senior Day - Hart Foundation - 02-25-2017 12:48 PM Rowe is paying the penalty for Not calling plays and sets. He believes in giving a lot of freedom which results in everyone doing what is right in their own eyes. This is a team game and you can't coach like you have 5 pros on the court who create their own individual offense. Rowe is playing checkers when he should be playing Chess. RE: Hofstra at JMU MBB- Regular Season Finale/Senior Day - s2dsayer - 02-25-2017 12:50 PM Shak with the deeeep 3 at the buzzer, good guys down by 4 RE: Hofstra at JMU MBB- Regular Season Finale/Senior Day - Hart Foundation - 02-25-2017 12:53 PM Pathetic first half but only down by 27-23. Ice cold shooting from both teams that is driven by a lot of poor shot selection. For coaching clinics this is what they show when explaining what not to do. Really hard to watch as a basketball fan. Somebody hit the reset button please before the 2nd half. RE: Hofstra at JMU MBB- Regular Season Finale/Senior Day - jmuduke10 - 02-25-2017 01:05 PM Baseball team on track to score more than the MBB team today. 14 runs through 3 innings. Hopefully they can come out and start this game over again RE: Hofstra at JMU MBB- Regular Season Finale/Senior Day - jmuduke10 - 02-25-2017 01:11 PM Much better start to this half and getting the second foul on Gustys, keep driving at him RE: Hofstra at JMU MBB- Regular Season Finale/Senior Day - Duke Dawg - 02-25-2017 01:11 PM Yea, it sucks men's hoops isn't that good. but you guys realize how overall stellar our athletic program is? Football - national champs, Gameday, 3 games on ESPN Women's hoops - 12 straight years of 20+ wins, another CAA title Women's Lacrosse - ranked and nearly beat top ranked team Softball - incredible. national player with one of the best players in country, who oh by the way is only a junior Baseball - looks like they may have turned the corner Soccer - meh, could be better, but we'll get there Field Hockey - always ranked Tennis, swimming - doing well. how well? who the hell knows if men's hoops turns it around next year with rowe's recruits, you guys won't have anything to ***** about other than more begging for FBS tomorrow. RE: Hofstra at JMU MBB- Regular Season Finale/Senior Day - Hart Foundation - 02-25-2017 01:21 PM Terrible post in a basketball thread. |
