ESPiN makes it hard to watch AAC games on their networks - BEAST Football - 02-19-2017 04:47 PM

Desperately tried to watch the Temple vs UConn game but couldn't... Decided to watch History Channel with 3 minutes left in the first half because those 2 num nut announcers only talked about how good the ACC is and basically how they all deserve to get into the tournament.

Syracuse is great and they deserve that 11 seed

Syracuse has historically been a very good program, they are not as good this year... I was referring to the announcers saying that "if you play in the ACC and you have a winning record in conference play you belong in the tournament"

That is a complete joke...

But after watching local highlights of that game l realized that I missed one hell of a game.

Is Syracuse past all their self imposed sanctions since Boeheim is a dirty cheater? Or do they still have to deal with some things? Legit question.

Wrong.

THIS YEAR, overall, ACC is easily the top rated conf in hoops as 13 out of their 15 teams are ranked in Top 100 RPI.

Right now, 9 teams in ACC are .500 or better in conf play as some on the bottom have run out of gas (i.e. like NC State).

Anyone watching college hoops this yr recognized the quality of play in the ACC this year.

A month ago, early predictors we're guessing 10 or more ACC teams might make the 68 tournament but now it looks like it's down to 9 and depending on how those bubble teams do over next 2-3 weeks, could end up being 8 in the end.

Normal answer from all schools who've been caught cheating.

College basketball is a cheater sport. 1/2 the game is cheating with recruiting.

Between payments to AAU coaches, hiring dads, sneaking around giving merchandise, etc the sport is dirty. You either play the cheating game or suck. Honestly why doesn't ecu go balls to the wall cheating with hoops? Are they going to vacate wins? Ban from post season?

I'm assuming the ACC promotes cheating since so many get caught. Imagine all that don't get caught. Miami can't stay clean for more than one season.

Well there's different levels of cheating. I don't so much think recruiting outside the lines is so much cheating, but when you start excepting players who give fake SAT scores or are getting totally false grades given to them that's a little ridiculous. Of course everyone wants to pull for a winner. Certain schools can also recover from cheating and sanctions and some can't. UCF certainly fell on their face after getting schollies taken away. The coach goes from winning 63 games in 3 years to 37 games the next 3 and what did UCF gain from it? No NCAA tourneys, no conference titles, no prestige. At least Memphis was really good for a while. And that isn't to knock on UCF. If ECU cheated, won 70 games in three years, got caught, lost schollies and went back into the gutter then nothing would change. People wouldn't have this different thought of ECU because they were pretty good for 3 years. SMU benefited from it because they not only cheated but they also were ultra successful and had a top flight coach who allowed them to constantly be in the limelight and get good press. That carried over to their current regime.

Maybe I just think too literal about it all but take a kid who really wants to go to Memphis. They make the grades, get a good SAT score, get into Memphis and have to take out school loans to make it possible to go to school. Then you got Derrick Rose who gets into school on a free ride, fails the ACT three times and uses a false SAT score to get into school.

I know some really don't care about that but if I were a current student or a graduate from Memphis who worked my butt off to graduate and pay my way through school I would be pissed.

Memphis State certainly does, just pretty sorry at hiding it. 08' runner up vacated. 85/08 Final Four vacated. 85/08 Elite Eight vacated. 82/84/85/08 Sweet Sixteen vacated. 08 CUSA Title vacated. 38 wins from 07-08 vacated. Banned from the post season in 87'.

Go big or go home.

Listing those 2 separately is really low, and shows your bias. Really, your whole post is an exercise in bloviating.

First, Derick Rose was not found to have cheated by the NCAA. I dare you to prove otherwise. What DID happen is he was sent an NCAA questionnaire to his home in Chicago WHILE HE WAS ON CAMPUS IN MEMPHIS. Big surprise, he didn't answer it by the deadline because he didn't even know it existed, and because of that, he was deemed retroactively ineligible. Pretty low, since the UofM REPEATEDLY confirmed with the NCAA Rose's eligibility up through November.

And that ONE incident results in most of your hits below, noted in bold.

Look. The long and short of it is, Derrick Rose was gonna play D1 somewhere. The powers that be were just pissed that he went to little ol' Memphis.

As for Dana Kirk and the 82-85 run, Here is an article that is pretty damning to Kirk about that stuff. Read it and ask yourself, was this stuff REALLY not happening anywhere else like Villanova, Kansas, St. Johns, etc?

http://www.upi.com/Archives/1988/09/29/Former-Memphis-State-basketball-coach-Dana-Kirk-gave-Keith/6434591508800/

So. If you read all of that, and still conclude that we deserve for our '08 title game appearance and our '85 FF should have been vacated, then why are you not in the streets clamoring for Kansas to be strung up?
