AP #11 - mikecat - 02-06-2017 12:17 PM

Beat UCF and SMU this week and you would think top 10 next week!

RE: AP #11 - BcatMatt13 - 02-06-2017 12:23 PM

SMU #25. Xavier #24

RE: AP #11 - jarr - 02-06-2017 12:24 PM

Good to see SMU get in and X still ranked at 24. Also love seeing us leap the blue necks as they continue to spiral down the drain.

You repeat that as if we have a choice.

IMO, we spend a lot of time obsessing about where our ranking number is. I get it, but is it really that big of a deal whether we are #11 or #9?

And, yeah, I get that we want a < 4 seed in the NCAA tournament, but those seeds are not rigidly determined by the poll rankings. They are determined by a committee that that takes all sorts of things into account.

So, I am quite happy with us being ranked #11... I would love the number to be higher. But so long as we're winning, it'll take care of itself. And, if UC manages to sweep the season and the post-season Conference tourney, then I would expect a #2 seed (at worst) no matter what the AP says.

We're on a helluva ride. Just enjoy it.

B word from Texas Tech has you at 19 and SMU unranked. Guess they still hate us.

I feel like SMU is underrated. They have been absolutey drubbing people lately. I think their lack of signature wins hurts them.

I will be shocked if we get the W in Dallas.

For a change , the schedule gives us a little break this week in regards to the SMU game on Sunday . While UC is chillin at home against UCF on Wednesday, SMU travels to Philly for a late Thursday night 9pm road game at Temple. Shouldn't matter too much but an extra day to prep and SMU running half way across the country after midnight Friday morning cant hurt . Plus a road game at Temple isn't a gimmie

I'm glad SMU is ranked. First, they deserve it. Second, the conference needs it for a a little respect in this down year. Third, if SMU stubs their toes in Philly, UC will have a two game lead going into Dallas. If SMU beats Temple, UC will face a red hot ranked team. A loss there won't rock the Bearcats' world now that UC has climbed above the midpoint of the AP poll. A UC win there probably lifts UC into the top ten.

The schedule has set up pretty well for UC all things considered.

Its been a fun season and I really like this team but it worries me sometimes its seems like the easier they score they let up on the D

I think SMU is a top 15 caliber team right now. They weren't early in the year when they had the real tests that voters look for and that has been holding them back. They are going to end up being a team that is Much better than their seed in March as far as the quality team they are and some higher seeded seed could be really frustrated they drew them as a potential second round matchup.

Question for all the statisticians: Is this (#11) the highest a Mick Cronin team has ever been rated?

This keeps a lot of that up to date, he's been top 10 two different years.
