Tacko Fall in the NBA? - NigelTufnel - 02-04-2017 10:03 PM

I think the kid is gonna make someone's roster. You just can't teach 7'6" and he can actually move, I mean he's not going to win the skills competition or anything, but he's no Thabeet either (plus he's got 3 inches on Thabeet).

Will be interesting to see where he goes in the draft.

Absolutely. Agreed 100%

No doubt about it. What was his background in HS and how many "stars" was he?

RE: Tacko Fall in the NBA? - Fluke - 02-04-2017 10:23 PM

Absolutely will get a shot just based on the height. Who knows if he sticks

Thabeet was much better in college and a bit more athletic. Tacko looks pretty good against us. He couldn't guard anyone in the NBA.

Tacko played soccer when he lived in Senagal but when he came to USA 5 years ago he started to play some hoops.

He is just basically learning fundamentals as we speak since he doesn't have much experience but in many games, you can see how much he has improved in just 1 college season under his belt.

Thabeet was more skilled, but I don't think he was more athletic, and Tacko Fall is much stronger. He is really hard to move out of the lane. The strength factor is a big deal. You can't guard in the NBA if you are weak, and that was a big part of Thabeet's problem.

RE: Tacko Fall in the NBA? - Julian - 02-04-2017 11:07 PM

From watching his highlights, he is a surefire NBA center. He dunks well

RE: Tacko Fall in the NBA? - Crazier - 02-04-2017 11:36 PM

He will make it to the NBA on potential alone. Not sure if he gets drafted because how the NBA game is changing. When he gets inside of the circle he is unstoppable.

RE: Tacko Fall in the NBA? - holyterror - 02-05-2017 05:58 AM

I agree that he'll get drafted. But guys his size usually end up with lower back and foot problems so I expect he'll be a "one contract" guy.

That's the challenge as there are much fewer teams using a true 5 in the game today than say 15-20 years ago.

Tacko isn't quick or fast but he is slowly improving but the up/down game of the 24 sec clock NBA game is even faster.

Other AAC teams like Tulsa and Houston went right at Tacko and got him into foul trouble and on the bench. Tubby didn't figure that out till the 2nd half and it was basically too late.

The way y'all were nailing 3 pointers over us, I'm not sure we could have kept up anyway. Congrats on the win. Must have been an exciting day for you UCF fans.

Yeah it was....as the 4 game losing streak had been rough but we knew going in this would be out toughest 8 game stretch of the season so any win was welcomed and yes, just 2nd ever win vs Memphis (both at UCF) made it extra sweet.

With just 7 scholarship players this year (2 bench players and walk on not much help, scored just 1 pt total yesterday), it's feast or famine with BJ, Tacko and Williams as if just 1 of them has a bad game, UCF usually loses.

No he wasn't. Are you comparing him to a senior Thabeet???? Thabeet was dominated by a 6'6" Joey Dorsey. Tacko will be in the NBA

He was a high 3* coming out of high school.

1. The grizz better not draft taco fall.

2. Boban marjanovic might not be quite that tall, but he's a better player at this point.

3. Taco has no offensive game so far. I don't see any jumpers or solid post moves. Nba players won't be scared of him, and taco won't be able to establish position down low on them like he can against the tigers without a 3 second count.

4. On the defensive side, taco stands under the rim and never leaves the paint. That won't fly in the nba. 3 second rule won't be his friend.

Overall, i don't think he is that good, but the nba sucks these days. Big guys are at a premium. If tarik black can hang around the league, taco can too. Still i don't see him being much of a player unless he improves drastically.

Yep, both times the tigers played against taco this year, they have played scared like the big bad man in the middle will hurt them if they even try to visit the lane.

Really pathetic.

RE: Tacko Fall in the NBA? - macgar32 - 02-05-2017 11:44 AM

I doubt he gets drafted...He will get tryouts and may stick somewhere but he is too much of a defensive liability with the way the league plays now. You would have to play Zone with fall in the game.

He won't be able to stay in the paint like he did against us when teams set a high screen because that is 3 points. Since we can't shoot against us it was a good decision.

Really pathetic.

Tarik Black would murder Taco Fall...Shaq Goodwin murdered Fall.

But you are correct about Tubby allowing his guys to be passive against Fall. He admitted as much after the first game by saying you better hurry up and shoot it if you get a rebound because he is coming. Statement was cute and all but it bothered me because that leads to passiveness.

Seems Tubby is teaching cautiousness and not making mistakes and we payed for that today.

security lined up with under 4 minutes to go, to keep the students from rushing the court

Good point, I can't see him guarding the pick and roll at all.

If he's in the game, the coach is going to have get creative.
