That is fantastic news!

I can't imagine he will have much resistance in taking over as our starter on day 1.

Resistance ! By that I would guess your saying that Hoy will have no competition and he will easily be the starter come day 1. 03-lmfao

Any one of the 3 qb's currently on this roster could have had the same results playing Juco football. It's a far cry from D1 , D1AA ,D2, NAIA, D3. See where I went with this.

Hoy is a very athletic and has an fairly decent arm but not any better and maybe not as good as any of the Qbs on the roster. He is going to have to learn the offense as fast as he can run. Not coming here before summer workouts only puts him behind. I sure he will learn the system but not before game 1 of the 2017 season.

I would be very surprised if he was starter Day 1. Never know, but he's way behind.

RE: JUCO QB Hoy now a Monarch - Razor Ramon Monarch - 01-28-2017 04:54 PM

He has what, 8 months to learn the offense?

I can't imagine that isn't enough time.

Guess we will see though.

He's not coming until the summer, so he has three months, and he's a year behind the freshmen and two behind LaRussa.

Is he a scrambling quarterback? We certainly need a guy with good wheels!

Hoy can throw on the run and he can run and he runs a 4.52 40.

Good to see he committed. Wish he could get here faster. Coming in late, DA and BL are a step ahead of Hoy. The Southern California Football Association isn't all that great of a league defensively. Hoy was player of the year and won the championship game in the SCFA but statistically there were 3-4 other QBs in that league who had better stats in less games than Hoy did in 13 games.

The good part about the QB position is now we will have 3 or more QBs that are mobile who can play right away. Next season we dont have to worry about pulling redshirts at the position.

Who are those QBs and where are they going?

I doubt that our coaches are only considering stats when they offer players; there's a whole lot more to it than that. Give me a qb with great athleticism, work ethic, and smarts every time.* Ron Whitcomb and the crew will work with him and hopefully mold him into a winner. It doesn't work every time, but I'll take my chances with that scenario.

*This goes for all of the qb's on our roster. The staff obviously identified many aspects in each of them that they saw as valuable to the team, and therefore worthy. They won't all start for us, but they will each likely make the team better.

Found a few stat items about Hoy provided by the CCCAA (California Community College Athletic Association)...

Individual Statistics (Jordan Hoy) from top 50 QB

# 3 - Completion percentage(s) (62.9%)
# 4 - Number of Touchdowns (37)

*(13 games)

Out of the Top 10 QB stats he had the lowest interception rate / Out of 392 pass attempts - 246 completions (62.9%) ONLY 6 Interceptions.

He also received....
California Jr. College All State Honors
California Jr College Offensive Player of the Year

* Hoy along with the American River QB were the only two to play in every game 13 (American River QB was 25th on the list

If you would like to see the Jr College State Championship Game (entirety) between Fullerton and American River

Link.... http://www.cccaasports.org/sports/fball/2016-17/releases/Fullerton_wins_2016_CCCAA_Football_Championship

Video of 2016 State Championship game. You will need to skip to the 54.20 minute mark on the tape.

However I am a little confused that his 2016 stats listed 4146 yards and 46 touchdowns I thought this numbers reflected the inclusion of the 3 playoff games.

Interesting that 49th out of 50 on the list is former Ocean Lakes star and much-hyped UVa transfer Corwin Cutler.

Hopefully we can lock him on Wednesday. Others schools like to attack the last few days before signing day!

Are you asking if we're in running for Hoy, he committed Friday to be a Monarch.

What a great get and with 3 years to play. We got options for the play option. If he does start next year, watch out. Bobby usally brings the QBs along slowly.

Still hard to believe we won 10 games.

I was referring to Cutler. I thought Retro's reply was to Mizz's statement on him.

Abs far as I know, Hoy has had interest from only ODU and Coastal Carolina.

Oh OK. I knew he visited Army, but I was not aware of any offer.
