UALR has been using Little Rock for athletic branding. School is now branding as UA Little Rock.

The switch to Little Rock in my opinion is smart.
The school tried to downplay "Little Rock" for decades to appeal to the people outside of Little Rock but a lot of those people who don't like "Little Rock" are people who want to come in make a living and flee to their suburb and get excited when another chain restaurant opens. They don't come back into Little Rock after work hours very much.
On the other hand you have great parts of Little Rock like the Heights, Hillcrest, the stuff out west and the emerging areas like SoMA and Mid-Town that embrace everything about living in Little Rock and go crazy for the next local owned restaurant or bar or shop.
I'd rather appeal to them. They have more disposable income and the Jack is super accessible for many (especially Midtown, Heights and Hillcrest). Get those people buzzing about UALR, much of the region will follow. UALR's advertising campaign is focused on things that appeal to them.
As a person living in the market. Smartest damn move UALR has made in decades.

Athletic changed their branding from UALR to Little Rock a little over a year ago. Now the school has changed the branding of the school from UALR to UA Little Rock.

Two years ago when Little Rock was still branded as UALR on their jerseys, I had a couple behind me wondering why App was playing Lenoir Rhyne. a D2 school 30 minutes down the mountain.
