Fire the free throw coach - Tiger65 - 01-21-2017 04:57 PM

Please someone get Coach Tubby to look into this problem.

RE: Fire the free throw coach - Hoots - 01-21-2017 05:05 PM

I'll give him a call.

Time to shoot them under handed.

It's like a disease. The Clank Virus.

Their mechanics are off. What makes a difference? Practice with proper mechanics as Pete Maravich explains in one of his tutorials on shooting.

Hard to teach an old dog new tricks. It's about impossible to remake a college players shot. Other factors like fatigue come into play.

They're teenagers. Tubby already fixed Crawford's shot.

Yea...but that was in his head lol. Mechanics takes more fixin--unlearning

Pretty good today. Especially to start and end the game. There was a stretch where KJ went 0-4 but he made up for it at the end.

And markel's 4 in a row were huge. That's when I heard the air go out of central Florida.

Hard to address mechanics at collegiate level.

Had to be a very quick hire because it worked...as the game was won on the FT line yesterday (plus 16 to 6 turnover margin)...as Memphis shot a lot better than normal and UCF shot worse:

UCF: 11-18 for 61.1%
Memphis: 18-23 for 78.3%

UCF was averaging 20 made FT's (on approx 29 attempts) per conf game heading into yesterday's game but UCF only got to the line 2 times in the first half...as they never solidified a strong inside presence and/or driving the lane which normally helps them pick up fouls, get to the line..get teams into the bonus early (UCF did a better job of that in 2nd half).

Blindfold them. lol

RE: Fire the free throw coach - SayWhat? - 01-23-2017 01:39 PM

Never mind the aspects of the game that were good, like we kept shooting fouls down and we did not turn the ball over as much. Take Tulsa game for an example of shooting fouls and turnovers. We did good on keeping their guards from driving the lane as much as they usually have in other games this season so they missed out on 8 to 10 points there. Plus we had a number of put backs and decent shots that just didn't fall.

Jimario showing great improvement.
Markel doing good stuff at needed points in the games. Shoot more 3s
KJ has found his rhythm. Big in the last couple games
Dedric just keeps being the anchor
Jerimiah has come along defensively
Craig has been very good and has brought energy

If Keesee and Clergot can give good minutes without costly mistakes then that helps out a lot.

We should be allowed to decline the penalty. Just inbound the ball and skip the free throws.

There's a very interesting thought. I've never heard that debated. Would certainly speed up games by virtually eliminating the hack-strategy down the stretch.

Would essentially allow teams to kneel on the ball like in football at the end of games...
