Miami's QB did a nice job down the stretch also. I expect Roback to take another step up this season.

Depends on whether he has to run for his life.

Up to the coaches to adjust the scheme, and Roback to get rid of the ball quicker, as the new line comes together.

He was spoiled this year with a veteran line that gave up the second fewest sacks in the country. Can't expect that again next year. Hopefully we'll be pleasantly surprised with new guys stepping up.

Yeah, Ragland looked good against us when we played Miami. He's going to be a player. Reminds me of Alex Gillett.

In regards to Roback, he only started 8 games, coming in to relieve Todd Porter in his other 2 games. His numbers would've been MUCH better if he got to play against Charlotte and MVSU. At the same time, it's his fault for getting suspended. Hopefully, Roback takes a step forward this year as a leader and plays a complete season at the highest level of his abilities. He'll have the weapons to do so.

Well that sucks. Wonder if it has anything to do with the new running back commitment from Florida Eastern has. I don't know the depth chart for Marshall but playing time might also have something to do with it. At Eastern he would be buried for another year or two.

Or Marshall is just viewed as an upgrade over Eastern

I think this is a new wide receiver (or maybe DB) commit, a Colorado State de-commit with a nice list of offers. He has EMU commit on his twitter. @jeffhubb7

Tough one to judge. This one because we gained one and lost one almost simultaneous.

Is the new RB a RB or a LB?

Lot of the early commits flip and that is driving coaches and us crazy.

As I suggested when P.J. left, many WMU commit would go to Minnesota, and WMU instead of being done recruiting would have many LOI to offer and they'd be recruiting against teams like us, not B1G teams.

I would be surprised if Hall does not end up in Kalamazoo.

Wow CC needs to think long and hard, losing this many verbals this late in the process where are the assistants in keeping in touch and a tab on these guys? Schools are talking in their ears. We're a 7-5 team and went to a bowl and guys are committing to schools like Mercer over us. We just lost another GA rb to Mercer.

I'll add we need another RB in this class.

Kind of O/T but a story on flipping which used to be taboo but no longer. Case study: MSU.

I look forward to the day when the only flipping I do regarding EMU recruiting in basketball and football is doing backflips.

Yeah, not sure what to make of this one? Shows EMU on his twitter, but doesn't show that on Rivals, Scout or 247. None of those even show an EMU offer.

Would love to have him because he has a better offer list than ANY of our current commits, and it's a position of need.

Our recruiting coverage from these services is so poor, we won't know who we've got for sure until signing day actually arrives. 01-wingedeagle

RE: 2017 Football Recruiting (Thread II) - emu steve - 01-25-2017 12:57 PM

True, E'Tough:

BTW, at this point in the game (process), I don't know if recruit A who decommits is better than recruit B who commits to us.

Remember, we are not like WMU where other schools, like Minnie Sota, raided them of their 3 star recruits.

The key for us is: Do NOT reach at the end. Bank unused LOI for next December and have a bunch for mid-year JUCOs.

A mid-year JUCO who can do Spring ball + 2 seasons is almost as valuable as a 2 star frosh who may redshirt or be minimally effective for one or two years.

There should be less recruiting mistakes made with JUCOs because their JUCO ball is a higher level than h.s. ball.
