Name the only franchise that has won an NFL championship but never won a Super Bowl (this franchise has appeared in a Super Bowl).

My first thought was Detroit, I don't know pre-super bowl era but they've been around for a while, however I can't remember them ever actually appearing in the Super Bowl, so I'm guessing they never won a championship at all?
Being a Cowboys fan, I'm really surprised I didn't think of the Eagles first, as they're often made fun of for having no rings. I know they went to a super bowl in the Donovan McNabb years, so that's my guess.

That's all I can come up with at this hour, I should've been asleep 4 hours ago. Tried to think of as many AFL franchises and expansion teams that have won the Super Bowl. I'm 34 and my knowledge on pre 80's NFL isn't very good though.

AFL teams and expansion titles post 1970 should not be eligible as an answer since they never had a chance for a NFL title.

The Chiefs did win one. They won IV against Minnesota.

Some teams quickly came to mind working off memory
Cardinals - won an NFL championship pre Super Bowl and later played in a superbowl
Vikings won the NFL but lost the Super Bowl.
Lions and Browns - won an NFL championship but have never been to a super bowl.
Of the original pre-merger NFL teams, most have won a super bowl
Rams, Bears, Packers, Steelers, Colts, Cowboys, redskins,, etc.
Cant remember if the eagles won the NFL but I think they did.

So are you talking just during the Super Bowl era? I looked up both of my first two thoughts and they both won NFL titles and neither has won the Super Bowl. If the question was only regarding those four years, the Minnesota Vikings won the 'NFL' but lost Super Bowl 4, and have never won a Super Bowl since then. They also never won a championship before the Super Bowl era, so its kinda semantics to say they've won a NFL title but not a Super Bowl, as they essentially won the NFC title.

They may have essentially won the NFC title but the reality is they are credited with an NFL title yet not a Super Bowl title. It is not semantics because they were different leagues back then (the NFL was clearly superior) and for a trivia question, it left a fun little loophole.

I meant semantics more based on the starting date, most people would assume pre-Super Bowl era if counting NFL titles without winning a Super Bowl. The Eagles won the NFL in 1960, just a couple years before the Super Bowl started, and have never won a Super Bowl.
I do agree it is an interesting bit of trivia though.
