Let's talk sanctuary cities - olliebaba - 11-15-2016 02:08 PM

Do you feel Emanual the head of the racist Chicago administration syndicate can continue this farce of sanctuary cities?

I'm curious. But please Tommy, this isn't a gay theme thread okay.

I said please.

Define the current sanctuary cities, number of undocumented persons therein and maybe their demographics and then perhaps we can have an educated discussion about them.

Educated discussions suck. The academics have ruined this country. Now it is time to step aside and implement real world policies. Trump is good at the real world, though he did go to the best schools and earned the highest marks, everything the phds touch turn to schit.

Joe the Plumber for DHS Secretary.

Simple answer. If the cities don't cooperate with federal law enforcement, cut off all federal law enforcement funds. If that doesn't work, start cutting off transportation funds. That should do the job.

Let's keep this simple.

There's no need to meet your requirements to have an educated discussion on the topic. Chicago has almost 400,000 illegal immigrants between the city proper and suburbs. The mayor is protecting them, spending taxpayer funds to help house, feed, educate, and care for them.

They do no belong here. They broke laws to be here. They should not be protected.

Since you want specifics, below are the stats for Chicago. How does that change anything?

Chicago. 390,000 illegals. 55% between the ages of 25-44.

RE: Let's talk sanctuary cities - olliebaba - 11-15-2016 03:02 PM

It's federal law that prohibits any person that protects illegal aliens. 8 U.S. Code, Section 1324 that says a person who conceals, harbors, or shields an illegal immigrant shall be fined under Title 18, imprisoned not more than 10 years. So let one of those mayors, law enforcement officers be adamant about harboring aliens and you only need ONE of those people to be the guinea pig and I would bet that the others would fall in line. Remember, we're talking about politicians here who just love to suck on the government teat be it at whatever level that they are in.

I say make Emanuel be the one to test this law. Please.

Can you at least tell me which cities we're talking about? Is it the city proper or the metro area?

Are we going to define our terms or just bloviate like gorillas in the forest?

RE: Let's talk sanctuary cities - olliebaba - 11-15-2016 03:20 PM

They're mostly the bigger Liberal controlled cities like Philadelphia (this one surprised me) New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle (?). There's more.

Yep, 31 (only 29 listed in wiki) of which Miami is one (probably the entire Metro area but obviously I don't know for sure). Term is defined as a municipality that does not use public funds to enforce national immagration law; can be codified or de facto.

The designation has no specific legal meaning; I think we may test the legality of these places in the near future.

RE: Let's talk sanctuary cities - Kronke - 11-16-2016 07:12 PM

I'm shocked at how brazen these leftist politicians are being when they claim they intend to not enforce the law of the land. If they are going to give sanctuary to illegals, why not murderers? Why not sex traffickers? Why not drug lords? Where does it stop? What happens if a billion people show up at our door step tomorrow?

This culture where we pick and choose what laws we're going to follow has to stop.

This!! These mayors likely want the publicity a legal confrontation would garner. Just start cutting off the funds (a politicians best friend) until they squeal uncle. Let's see how the league residents of the city react when the federal money spigot becomes just a drip.

Heck, that'll leave enough money for us to pay off the debt. Do it.

Without having access to the exact figures I'd be willing to bet that the withheld federal funds from those 18 cities would make one heck of a down payment on the wall.

Brilliant.

NYC received $7 billion in federal aid in 2015. That's a lot of cinderblocks and concertina wire.

RE: Let's talk sanctuary cities - FIUFan - 11-17-2016 06:12 PM

Let's see which areas harbour illegal immigrants with a felony record. How many of those types are there?

But how do you really codify a police force to question persons they come across to prove citizenship. I mean are they supposed to roll up to everbody and ask 'vear r ur papers'? Who's really going to enforce this?

The real problem for these 'illegals' is incorporating into American life (gettting a loan, using gov't services, etc.) or getting stopped in the course of routine police work, then they've got a problem.

I've been saying this now for months, if better than a year or more.

We're NOT gonna go stopping random people on the sidewalk cause they "look" like a this or that. Nor randomly kicking in doors Janet Reno style.

BUT, if/when these people DO come in contact with "the system", be it applying for welfare, showing up to the DMV, or pulling over the el camino for a tail light out or whatever, if they're here illegally, they get reported.

We then have ICE or some other appropriate department look into their background, record, work history (if any) etc. If they're criminals, especially felons, out they go. Gangbangers and anyone violent,. out they go.

If they have no gainful employment? out they go. We could check into the family situation, but by and large if the entire family has to go, then so be it. If they are otherwise "clean" as in record, decent work history and whatever else, they get an expedited hearing, as in weeks, not months or years and they can get some sort of probationary or temporary status.

If some of them voluntarily turn themselves in and they check out, then they get to move to the front of THAT line. We need to know who is here and how many.

We need to do a MUCH better job of getting people from other areas of the world their due process (used lightly) as well. Not letting them all in willy-nilly, but those with compelling reasons, family and other stuff need to at least get an answer. It can be nearly a decade for some to be sitting/waiting in Canada or where ever just waiting to do things the right way. That's ridiculous too.
