[MLB] Someone is gonna be beyond heartbroken tomorrow... - C2__ - 11-01-2016 10:22 PM

Another heartbreak for a franchise that knows little else. And on the flip side, a sigh of relief as someone will celebrate a World Series for the first time in many generations.

Honestly, the only reason I want the Cubs to win is because of the drought since 1908. That is it--I have no other reasons.

They can keep waiting till 2108. Besides Cleveland hasn't celebrated since 1948. Chicago's last WS was in 2005.

That was the White Sox though...

It's been a great series. great pitching from both sides at times, fans and stadiums have looked great, either way, both teams should be proud and both will be good for a while. Hats off, Go Cubs, but tipping cap to the Indians, too.

The AL team(Cubs) is going to win the series. Never seen a more AL type team from the NL than the Cubbies this year. Especially with the returning Schwarber.

As I said, at least some Chicago fans have gotten to celebrate a World Series title.

Boy oh boy, 6-6 after the Cubs led 5-1 (and 6-3 in the 8th) and the Indians led 3-1 in the series. Whoever loses this is gonna have a fanbase full of people that can't go to work or school tomorrow.

Ain't that the truth? 03-lmfao

God doesn't want either long suffering franchise to win.

Well, it can't end in a tie.

Anything is possible, we're talking about curses.

They better make him throw out the first pitch next year.

This is the second time the Indians have lost a World Series late in Game 7 since the 90's. At least they lost to a team with an actual fanbase this time.

RE: [MLB] Someone is gonna be beyond heartbroken tomorrow... - stever20 - 11-03-2016 08:26 AM

well, I know who isn't heartbroken. Fox. Game got a 25.3 rating which would if it finalizes be the highest rated baseball game since 1991.

RE: [MLB] Someone is gonna be beyond heartbroken tomorrow... - stever20 - 11-03-2016 08:34 AM

Overnight ratings:
Cubs-Indians gm 7: 25.2
Cavs-Warriors gm 7 18.9

What a great game! Both teams played their hearts out. It was fun to watch so many new young players (and David Ross!) get a chance to write their names in the annals of great World Series history. I figured the Indians would make a push to come back and they did. I missed Fowler's leadoff HR, but watched everything in between up until the Indians tied it. Fell asleep but woke up to see Epstein holding the WS trophy.

Again, both teams were very likeable and played well enough to win. Indians can be proud of their team and their city. Glad it was not a blowout game. Even fun to watch LeBron as a fan going bananas when Indians tied it up late.

Nats must be feeling perplexed about having put together a great team of their own the last few years but not getting over the hump yet. Maybe next season will be their year. But these are both two good young teams and they will both be in the postseason picture for a while. Maybe the Indians can be champs next year. Francona did a heck of a job managing them almost all the way. Epstein definitely goes to HOF after taking both red Sox and Cubs to WS titles after both franchises missed for so long. Also, Braves will be decent next season, and will hopefully be contenders by 2018, so I'll go back to rooting for them.

This series and the Cubs and Indians runs through the postseason are the best of what the game of baseball can be. Glad so many watched it on TV. Great story and great send-off to the off-season. Can't wait until February to see what moves are made and how new teams look in 2017!
