Louisville vs WKU football series - Ewglenn - 10-27-2016 01:57 PM

2018 Louisville
2019 Nashville
2020 Louisville

On the U of L Facebook page, thoughts? I thought the game in Nashville was interesting. What made them decide to add a game there?

Interesting note from the Courier Journal...
Quote:UofL is coached by Bobby Petrino, who went there after a one-year stop leading the Hilltopper program in 2013. His WKU contract stipulated that should he leave for a different school, he must “use his best efforts” to schedule a home-and-home series with the Toppers.

In realty Nashville will be a home game for the Cards as well as it is a 3 hour and 15 minute drive from Louisville. 07-coffee3

I wonder if HC Jeff Brohm will still be there.

Our 2018 schedule is brutal. Love it!

RE: Louisville vs WKU football series - CardinalJim - 10-27-2016 05:12 PM

The game at Nashville is part of a continued plan to regionally grow our fan base.

We plan in Indianapolis next season. There have been rumors of a regular season game against a Big Ten program in Cincinnati.

Good to see UofL giving the fans games they want close enough to travel to.

I like it, top two state teams going at it. WKU has been beating UK as well, the Cats will no longer play them. They added the game in Nashville because WKU stadium wouldn't be large enough to handle the crowd & Nashville is close to Bowling Green. WKU plays their big games there (Titans), like UK in the past. They play some basketball games there as well.

Yeah I saw it would be a home game for them and they would keep the typical home game money. Pretty good gig if you ask me.

Will they serve goat meat barbecue 01-wingedeagle in Nashville to accommodate the Western Kentucky crowd?

I also look at it as giving some help to WKU...we played Marshall-(nothing against the Herd) but if we are going to play a C-USA school might as well play the In State School...

I assume they will play in a bigger stadium than WKU's regular home field. Nashville is a very short drive from Western Kentucky - less than an hour, IIRC.

Yes, the 2019 WKU "home game" will be played at Nissan Stadium, the 69,000 seat home of the Titans. WKU's stadium only seats 22,000, but Nashville is only an hour from WKU and 2.5 hours from Louisville. There will be a big travel crowd down there from both Louisville and Bowling Green, and if some locals show up that's a bonus.

As an alum of both schools, I'm pretty excited about this! Unfortunately one has to lose. I'll be wearing Cardinal red that day, however a WKU win would be huge for the program.

I am already planning on that game weekend, plus going to the Opera. a great weekend. 04-cheers

That's a great point. I too enjoy helping WKU make budget and build their program.

I'm afraid to ask what this means.

I believe he is referring to the mutton BBQ tradition around Owensboro, truly a Western Kentucky tradition.

WKU is in Bowling Green, which has no BBQ tradition as far as I know.

Western Kentucky is slowly becoming a more recognizable name in college football
