Interesting Stat - FCS wins over FBS - WolfBird - 10-21-2016 10:44 AM

This far there have been 10 FCS wins over FBS teams this year.

3 of those FBS teams are no worse than second in their league/division.

Guess you gotta see how that holds up, but it's surprising nonetheless.

NDSU wasn't surprising, Illinois State shouldn't be surprising and i'm not sure who the third would be. Sometimes the style of play works to mitigate the talent disparities. NDSU running a pro style offense helps them out tremendously as they are pretty versatile and are able to run many plays out of any formation.

Not surprising at all it is par for the course. Good FCS teams can beat FBS teams that are pretenders and or play horribly on any given day. I have not seen one game where it was anywhere in the universe of App over Mich. Nobody really blinked an eye when NDSU beat Iowa I called it. I guess the others are ArkSt and Washington St...ehhh. WSU was instate and first game of the year when you have your best shot of pulling it off.

Also I dont think WSU or Iowa have any shot of being a conf or div champ especially Iowa. The Big 10 West is a joke as well and the Pac12 outside of one team is mediocre. ArkSt can even if they lose to Troy but that is about it.

The FCS usually wins about 10 a year with a few eyebrow raisers.

EDIT

NW is third in their div so that makes four at third or better but NW is 3-3....who cares.

We're the 3rd team. Washington State lost to Eastern Washington, Iowa lost to NDSU.

It's worth noting that all 3 FCS teams in these cases are ranked and currently winning their respective conferences. Obviously the top part of FCS is pretty darn good.

We beat FCS #8 last year 44-16 in our first year under HCNB. So I wound't go hanging your hat on that loss just yet. That said, UCA is a very good football team so it's not like you got beat by Gardner-Webb or something.

You guys will be very tough to beat at home on a Thursday after we play a physical APP on that Saturday. The League's best back to back on a five day stretch. I doubt we go 2-0 during that stretch and could easily go 0-2. Really unfavorable scheduling for us. You guys have a tune up game before you play us and if we lose to APP we probably also lose to you guys.

We will be at the end of 4 games in 20 days. Fortunately the first three are garbage, but still have to factor it in.

Georgia State may not be a title winner, but that is no way a gimme game, as Troy and APP can attest.

So Washington St. and Iowa could possibly destroy the Pac 10 and Big 10's rep. Well according to some on here. Wow the Cougars FCS loss was even an in state foe.

I just wish it was at empty Turner Field instead of empty Georgia Dome.

You play who you play. Unfavorable is Southern traveling to NMSU and then having a weekday game.

The Rams and Giants are playing in London Sunday. LA has a 12 hour flight vs 6 hours for Giants.

This was sent in response to saying that Troy had an unfavorable schedule, which isn't any worse than what any one else in going through. Regardless, the England games would be interesting if the teams they matched up were worth a $h!t
