Dekalb for Homecoming - foch41 - 10-21-2016 04:49 AM

How crowded do you think Dekalb is going to be on Saturday? Being that it's homecoming it's typically a mad house but with the team in a dark place right now do we think it'll be a little less of a madhouse?

Id guess 12k attendance

With the Cubs playing Saturday, it'll be a ghost town.

Most fans should be able to get home in time for the Cubs game so that shouldn't be an excuse. We should win this one so it would be nice to have a good turnout. I believe they are only expecting 12k.

Decent weather for 10/22.

Sunny & mid to upper 50s.

Dress warmly, folks. DeKalb is a different climate. Last Saturday, the thermometer read 70 degrees and my wife and I had to go to VCB to buy sweatshirts (worn under our jackets) because we were freezing. Tomorrow, I am going with winter coat, gloves, and earmuffs. I will probably need it all. We generally trek to DeKalb with jackets any time the temperature is below 80. Unbelievable.

If we only pull in 12k for homecoming, I will officially waive the white fbs flag and recommend moving to fcs. I would rather save the money on schollys and travel and watch us play an instate foe....good god 12k for homecoming.....

A white bed sheet should do I guess.

I will be shocked if it is 12k.

Then again, you may have a couple thousand that bought tix and will not go in, or maybe for a 1/2. Do they do tickets sold or scanned still? They really need to go to sold if they haven't ala EMU.

I think the Cubs is a valid point, some people come from an hour and up away. With the Cubs 1 game from the World Series and this years NIU team not going anywhere I suspect some will say screw it and just watch it on tv this year and hope we can right the ship next season.

RE: Dekalb for Homecoming - NIURedBlack - 10-21-2016 11:50 PM

13k is my prediction on attendance and we'll be lucky to get it.

RE: Dekalb for Homecoming - NIUSox10 - 10-22-2016 12:25 AM

I think the attendance will be driven down moreso due to the cubs than the record. People still plan to go to dekalb to meet up with friends on homecoming regardless of record.

Looked like an OK crowd for a 1-6 team fighting for attention in the same town as the Cubbies.

14k?

RE: Dekalb for Homecoming - NIU007 - 10-22-2016 07:03 PM

I'll guess 13,501

RE: Dekalb for Homecoming - niu79 - 10-22-2016 08:42 PM

Announced attendance for today's game was 11,801.

Not great but given the situation, this could have been a whole lot worse, a whole lot

I was there and I can say the alumni side was pretty much full but the student side wasn't too impressive.

How is that possible at less then half capacity in attendance? Unless our scanners are still fking up.

RE: Dekalb for Homecoming - NIUfilmmaker - 10-23-2016 11:37 AM

While trying to be impartial, it really does seem like our numbers are often reported as tangibly less than they appear in person or on TV, while a number of "EMU's" out there are visually no where near the numbers they put in the books.

Until a universal, policed system is in place, we really should be massaging our number as other schools are.

From watching on TV yesterday you could have told me 14-16k and I wouldn't have blinked.
