The mass exodus continues. 10th player from their "great" 2014 recruiting class gone and 7th from Ohio...
I personally think it is hilarious, especially with the way some of these parents went around bragging about UK while talking down UC during their recruitment.
I have no clue what the parents of these kids from Ohio were ever thinking going into that situation... A perennial doormat with an inexperienced and totally unproven head coach... All of them on that list had MUCH BETTER options than UK coming out of HS. They have to all be looking back regretting making such a terrible decision.

Said last year he had a kid he was recruiting tell him he was told by "somebody" he had to go to UK. Tubs response "UK? They haven't been to a bowl game in 100 years!". The whole room burst out in laughter.
I have heard multiple coaches say they have improved the relationships with local coaches this past year and they hope to do better. We shall see.

To be fair, playing the SEC has to be an allure for players and their families. Especially since most of them have ambitions (realistic or not) of playing in the NFL.

You're probably right, though I imagine the allure disappears quickly when you're getting beat senseless by the rest of the SEC.

It makes no sense to me. I would have to think having 7 of the 11 Ohio recruits from their "best" recruiting class leaving the program already would not bode well for them perception wise in this state going forward. Stoops has also pretty much proven to be a horrible coach and now with all the off field rumors swirling about his personal life, the red flags are all over the place. I'll never understand what HS coaches and parents up here were seeing with a perennial doormat program and a completely unproven coach, especially with some of the options several of these kids had coming out of HS that were far better than UK (In many cases schools like Nebraska, NW, Wisconsin, Mich State, etc..). Horton, LaRubbio, Richardson, whoever was advising those kids gave them horrible advice coming out of HS.

It would make sense if it's a good program in the SEC, which UK is not and never has been. As far as the NFL goes they'll find you anywhere. UC has put way more players into the NFL over the last decade than UK. And it's better to see the field at a MAC school than ride the pine at an SEC doormat if you have NFL aspirations (like Horton has been doing).

Don't know or much care who the UK first-rounder is, but I'd bet that Connor Barwin, Travis Kelce and Trent Cole have enjoyed more impactful NFL careers.

I get it. It takes a special mindset from an 18 year old to pass on an opportunity to take a scholarship offer to a Penn State to instead play at a Temple.
If I were in their shoes, I'd have taken the big school offer. Betting just about all of us would have.

Huh? I am talking about the last decade. Bud Dupree was drafted in the first round by the Steelers in 2015.

Maybe I was different at 18 than most-- but my mindset would have been to go where I could play. Of course, a lot of guys have the mindset they are better than they really are.

Then use UC and B10 cellar dwellers Illinois or Purdue. The P5 label is here to stay and most kids would prefer to play in it than in what is perceived to be the second tier.
Boise and Houston can at least sell the idea of the access bowl. Not sure UC can right now. The HS kids we are recruiting were in the 4th or 5th grade when we went to the Sugar Bowl.

No kid thinks they are going to a school to ride the bench for 4 years. Reason we get some of the transfers we do.

Bo Schembechler flew out to Colorado to offer Bill Musgrave a scholly to Michigan, not so much because he wanted Musgrave's QB skills, which were considerable, but because he wanted to deprive rival schools of those skills. Elvis Grbac was Michigan's QB at the time, and Musgrave knew he was destined to suck pine in Ann Arbor, so he bailed and had a great college career at Oregon, later playing in the NFL, and then coaching at both the college and pro levels. He's currently the OC for the Oakland raiders.
His younger brother, an even better high school QB. was also heavily recruited. He opted to follow in Bill's footsteps at Oregon, had a great college career, and then went to medical school. Smart kid.
