Did we last season?

I honestly can't recall the band travelling since Louisville in 2013 but I'm sure they have since.

We would always take 2 trips a year. We took three the year we went to the Pasadena Bowl. One year we went to Houston and Fla. St. If you count Oxford or Jackson (MS) we took two trips a year.

dayum. They don't let the musician out much do they.

My lottery winnings are going towards the band.

With the exception of the Birmingham Bowl, I don't know about last year. I do know that the year prior, the band went to Oxford, Tulane, and the Miami Beach Bowl.

This year I think Oxford + Tulane and/or Cincy would make sense...

And folks wonder why the Big 12 doesn't want us...

Beat the hell out of Kansas and send 'em back to the big 12 with their beaks cut totally off.... BIG TIME.

The band is better and should go to all places, if possible. The team needs them. It helps with the spirit of the team and keeps them lifted up. Just look at the "Fightin' Texas Aggie Band" of A T M . That's something to move around.... but they do.

Keep up the good work MSOTS. You're doing GREAT ! ! ! 04-rock

I went on those Houston/Fla. St. trips back in the 1970's.

It pains me to say it, but English was my minor... But back on topic!

Anyone know if the band will be in Oxford or Cincy?

RE: Band road trips? - TigerEye - 09-12-2016 08:20 PM

David Rudd replied to someone on twitter asking about the band not going to Oxford:

@CokerMD: Very disappointed to hear the Mighty Sound of the South won't make the trip to Oxford. Why aren't they going? @UofMemphisPres

@UofMemphisPres: Since they are not allowed to play in stands or on the field @ Ole Miss, MSOS wanted to attend Tulane game instead.

Stay classy, Ole Piss.

So Tulane is one answer. Are there any others?

RE: Band road trips? - shere khan - 09-13-2016 08:43 AM

Did yall see the big article on the band being prohibited from playing in oxford in the CA?

RE: Band road trips? - 731615Tiger - 09-13-2016 10:27 AM

I have been in email communication with the U of M director of athletic bands about the situation. Here is his message to Tiger fans:

"Tiger Fans,

Thank you for your passionate words. It makes our students and faculty proud knowing that the band is such an important part of the game day experience.

Due to SEC protocol and Ole Miss Homecoming activities, the Mighty Sound of the South will not be given the opportunity to perform at halftime and only afforded pep band seating. Thus, myself and other band administrators have made the decision not to travel to the Ole Miss game.

The Mighty Sound of the South, in its entirety, will be traveling to Tulane to support our Tigers. We hope to see you there too.

Go Tigers!

Fredrick Brown
Interim Director of Athletic Bands"

Seems as though they have acknowledged the problem and they are working to resolve it moving forward. Still sucks that they won't be there. Dr. Brown seems very supportive of Tiger athletics and our fan culture. His immediate and honest response to my email is very appreciated!
