CUSA Attendance/Week One? - MoodyBlueRaider - 09-04-2016 05:45 PM

OK Guys. I'm hoping MT at least broke 20,000 but cannot find any data. Nothing reported about attendance in Tennessean or on our MT websites (last I looked)and they still haven't acknowledged that Western and Rice even played a game at all. So, anybody got any information on this subject?

RE: CUSA Attendance/Week One? - ExcitedOwl18 - 09-04-2016 05:49 PM

Rice-WKU appears to be 19 and change.

http://www.espn.com/college-football/game?gameId=400869347

MT-Alabama A&M fell 33 people short of 20k.

Thanks for the data. Both WKU and MT must draw better than that (and not just when we play each other). Hope the rest of our colleagues had a better showing.

Disappointing 22,380 for UTSA.

RE: CUSA Attendance/Week One? - SApuro - 09-04-2016 07:01 PM

Most G5 schools struggle to reach 20k. 23k is respectable for a FCS opponent.

RE: CUSA Attendance/Week One? - Ole Blue - 09-04-2016 07:05 PM

UTEP: 30,119
North Texas: 24,718
UTSA: 22,380
Old Dominion: 20,118
Middle Tennessee: 19,967
Western Kentucky: 19,286
Florida International: 16,089
Florida Atlantic: 14,887

EDIT: I will keep a running tally posted after each week is complete

I wish we counted all our students.. It would help tremendously. Problem is they only had 1 gate for them and just opened another one and they just flashed their ids. It frustrates me they don't but I'll take it as long as they keep showing up and over filling their sections!

Picks Up!

This is PATHETIC for season/home openers.

20k is pathetic for a home opener against crap teams like Alabama A&M and Rice (sorry, Owl fans)? FIU and FAU, yes, but I mean really we at MT didn't hit 19k last year except for Vandy game (announced 25k but a hurricane was going on so maybe 1/2 that in the stands). Give it a break, at least until we get some real games in.

Seven years ago Marshall wasn't drawing much better. Went into a drought once you moved to C-USA and only climbed out once ECU, Houston and UCF left. As you climbed so has your attendance.

RE: CUSA Attendance/Week One? - NTTHOR - 09-04-2016 07:22 PM

North Texas had their third highest attendance at apogee. ..sad it's only 24,000+, but happy it was a great turnout for a 1-11 team...will fall off next week, but hope to keep it around 20000

....one of these days people are going to look back and realize how the boob tube coupled with the devaluation of the USD is destroying the last bastion of what was once "good"...

the boomers are dying off and Xers are having to pay for that carnage....

attendance smack....always on of my 'faves'....

Wrong. Alot of our fans boycotted snyder and chose to not go until he was fired. Had much more to do with Snyder than it did anything else. He was an awful coach. We have no problems putting 25k in the stands even against terrible teams and in bad weather. Morgan State is a terrible opponent, and right now we are looking at rain. Still, we draw 25k in the rain, 28k to 30k in good weather.

Yeah, that's completely untrue.

2005 - 26,510
2006 - 26,031
2007 - 30,020
2008 - 24,766
2009 - 22,236
2010 - 27,046
2011 - 25,874
2012 - 24,896
2013 - 25,023
2014 - 27,461
2015 - 26,322

We had one atypical year in 2009. That was after 5 years of losing under Snyder and folks had enough. Had nothing to do with teams leaving. We got a new coach and attendance jumped right back up to historic levels, before any realignment occurred. We've only had a few crowds under 20,000 in stadium history and most of those can be attributed to very nasty weather.

RE: CUSA Attendance/Week One? - MoodyBlueRaider - 09-04-2016 08:04 PM

All right CUSA. we got to do better. For comparison sake, and to get us MOTIVATED: CUSA TOTAL ATTENDANCE for 8 HOME GAMES 167,254 Average 20,945 AAC TOTAL ATTENDANCE 9 HOME GAMES 298,251 Average 33,139. That needs to be our goal. Anybody know how MAC, MWC and SunBelt did in Week One? Hopefully, we did better than them.

Not exactly. Since 2010 (after Snyder)

16 games with less that 25k.
UCF – 23k
UEP – 24k
Tulane – 19k
USM – 24k
UAB – 20k
ECU – 22k
UCF – 22k
Memphis – 22k
Houston – 18k
USM – 20k
UAB – 22k
WKU – 23K
LT – 23k
Norfolk ST – 24k
ODU – 18k
USM – 22k

17 games with 25k or more (not counting P5 games)
Ohio – 28k
Memphis – 25k
Rice – 27k
WCU – 25k
Ohio – 33k
Tulsa – 27k
Miami(OH) – 27k
GardnerWebb – 26k
UTSA – 28k
ECU – 25k
RI – 25k
Ohio – 31k
MT – 30k
FAU – 27k
Rice – 30k
NT – 27k
FIU – 26k

Only 6 of those 33 games had 28-30k so Huntington must never have good weather.

Obviously your P5 games had huge attendance, as with all G5's.
WVU - 41k
VaTech - 34k
Purdue - 38k

RE: CUSA Attendance/Week One? - Monarchist13 - 09-04-2016 08:36 PM

ODU should be rock solid this year. We sold out of season tickets last week. Sold out the first game. Could be some issues with visitor tickets that get returned. But as of now, I don't see the sell-out streak ending this year.
