2017 Footbal schedule - GCD70 - 08-29-2016 03:30 PM

Look like we open up next year at home on Friday Sept. 1 vs BC. Then at Neb and at SDSU, then home vs ?

As I said in one of the other thread...I believe that SF said that there will be a schedule announcement with ESPN coming soon.

SF said the BC game was picked for a Friday night so it would be on national TV and so we would have 1 extra day of prep for our next opponent.

He also said that Idaho in 2018 will be the last time you see an out of state FCS team at Huskie Stadium on his watch. He did make an exception for UNI as a fallback team if needed because they can bring a good number of people to Huskie Stadium.

SF is also very much in support of the state legislators writing up some law requiring UofI to play NIU every so often. His top reason is to keep the money in the state which it so desperately needs to do.

I asked him to clarify but he kept on talking about the master plan and I sure as heck wasn't going to stop him!

Last spot will probably be filled by a FCS team.

I did not get that impression at all by the way he was talking. Not at least for that week 2 spot.

Could have been a big game if on Saturday This Friday change hurts big time. Really disappointing

Requiring to play UofI would be fantastic

I have a much higher likelihood of being there now that it's on a Friday night. Odds are that I will be out of town for Labor Day weekend. Having the game on Friday will allow me to head out early Saturday morning and still spend 2+ days wherever I am. Student attendance may be bad due to the holiday weekend but at least the Friday night game gives them incentive to stay there one extra night. But hey, keep on living in your doom and gloom universe.

Also, is it possible that ESPN would give us TV coverage for a conference game in week 2 and then we play a FCS team later in the year? Maybe on a Friday night?

Doubtful. ESPN doesn't care about NIU. The golden goose gets locked up in a cage and paraded around... that's our life in the MAC right now

I brought that up to him and he said it was always planned on being on a Friday night.

It will be a full house so I have no issue with it.

That game will be sold out, whether it's played on a Friday night or Saturday afternoon. If Friday night means national TV as well, it's a no brainier. Easy choice.

Sold out on a Friday night? I don't think it can come close to capacity on a Friday

A sellout is 23595...if we can't sell out BC on a Friday for the week 1 home opener with SF as our AD we are in sad shape.

We had UNLV on Saturday of Laborday weekend and the attendance stunk...people were even complaining that it was on a Saturday.
