The comments aren't surprising considering the tone of Ingram's comments in the article and how the argument is framed.

Truth is, UAB was forced into this type facility because Watts, Ingram & the BOT didn't want UAB to have an enclosed one.

Coach Clark of course still can use it to his advantage.

Not at all. Better off just saying nothing. It's a huge get for us for the time being, and we can move forward from there. The fact that we couldn't build anything before and are now able to do this is huge.

Why would you pitch an article like this? Or did Solomon initiate the story?

Here we go again.

lets just be glad we have this facility. Beats the hell out of having the players DRIVE to practice at bham southern, which was the case not long ago.

why even bother to read comments to UAB stories? You know how the Bammers are going to respond and the rest of the country is still not even sure what has happened here. Lets just continue to support the program and get ready to go out and kick some azz next season !

He was not talking about article comments. There is none.

Ingram's got to go.

Quote:"It doesn't get that cold in the winter here (in Birmingham)," Ingram said. "If we need to, can we put on a long-sleeve T-shirt? Is it really that hard?"

Just...wow...

No, the South is not the great arctic wasteland, but to say it doesn't get that cold is patently ignorant. I look forward to hearing about Ingram going for a jog on one of those 17 degree days with ice and rain.

Ive wondered about the cold weather practice myself. Or offseason training since we have seen snow lately thats hurt recruiting.

Working within our budget, is there such a thing as "curtains" for this type of enclosure? Maybe wouldn't work for too windy situations (it would need a break-away and retract mechanism), but if it is just too hot or too cold it could provide some insulation.

I'm sure Clark says he is fine with it because he is making the best of a bad situation. It doesn't accomplish anything to raise a stink about it or bad mouth it. You just build it up and point out positives.

Guess what! That's exactly what Ingram is doing as well. He is an athletic director. He wants the best for the athletic department because it furthers his career. He is doing exactly what Clark is doing. Selling it. Talking bad about it does not raise money and it does not help the program.

Watts and the BOT remain the enemy. Ingram and Clark is making do with the hand they have been dealt. They would both rather have a better facility, but it isn't possible right now.

The fans should follow their lead. It's better than nothing.

RE: Solomon: UAB is building a unique 'indoor' football practice facility without walls - ATTALLABLAZE - 08-25-2016 02:24 PM

It's what we are allowed to build right now and Coach is "saying" the right things. Let's support all of this.

Mark can have his small victory and all the glory that comes with this. I hope other programs are not taking note of how savvy he is.

Biting tongue (I removed a paragraph)

Support the project, continue raising money and let's all show up and have a good presence at the ground breaking.

This past winter B'ham did not have a daytime temp below freezing, but it has had such freezing daytime weather for days at a time in years past (remember that 17" snow storm in March 1993?).

B'ham is on the northern fringe of the Humid Subtropical Climate zone and can have very cold weather in some winters and can have weeks of 100+ degree days in the summer with high humidity. This past summer we have had days of "feels like 110 (heat index)" kinds of weather. The pavilion will provide enough moderation for all but the coldest/hottest days. We can get away with not building for the cold weather of Minn. or the hot weather of Phoenix. AZ.

This weather update brought to you today by the letters U and A and the number 1.

RE: Solomon: UAB is building a unique 'indoor' football practice facility without walls - UABslant - 08-25-2016 03:53 PM

All I'm saying is, don't call it what it's not. It's a pavilion, the likes of which no one has ever attempted for a full football field.

I think it will make for an awesome practice facility and allow us to use money on more important things.

Haters gonna hate.
