College Basketball 2016-17 Men's Basketball Top 144 On the Bracketolgy side of the countdown AQ simply fill in the 32 AQ leagues. Currently 32 AQ of the 32 AQ spots had been filled. As of today there have been 36 AT LARGE teams selected totaling 66, [b]filling the 68 team field

I'm afraid we don't make the list at all. The people making these lists will look at it like we lost our best player and a TON of scoring. Meanwhile UAB returns nearly everyone. We'll prove them wrong on the court this year, but I wouldn't expect to see us named. Hope Im wrong.

Who do you consider a a top 88 team that is left in CUSA. Obviously MTSU should be in on the list. I don't think WKU is the same team they were last year. Next year will be a different story for them. LA Tech, I'm not seeing it. UTEP, they really do not seem to have the combination and mix of players along with their coach to be a top 88 team this year. That leaves Charlotte. IMO, Charlotte should have been among the top 144 teams, however that ship has sailed. I just don't see them as a top 88 selection.
That leaves Old Dominion.

This list is only good for one thing and one thing only...message boards fodder. I won't throw my season tickets in the trash if by some chance we don't make it. LOL.

Two to go in CUSA then. I think it will be 2 out of ODU, MTSU, WKU, and we have as good a chance as anybody. And as said before, it doesn't matter. Though I guess it could slightly influence a recruit or something.

Yep, in reality you are right. However in the world of perception it can be of value. There are a few things that over time influence recruits, players, parents and even the peers we compete against each and every year. I would rather be a part of the conversation than not receive any respect or recognition by sports writers or the press. I would much rather have the buzz surrounding the program than be considered irrelevant. Respect is earned on the court, but perception is a key element to our future success. In the eye of the public, recruits and even other coaches, yes it matters.
You can approach any 16, 17 or even 18 year old that we recruit and they will be the first to tell you they want to play for a winning program and they want to make a difference and contribute to the success of that program. Do not be lulled into a false belief that perception is not important.

Seems to me the only other possibility is Western Kentucky. Think there is any chance that is where this is headed, and the Monarchs are behind WKU, MTSU, UAB, Marshall and Rice? Nah, I didn't think so.
