How many remember his attempt to add to the fast food scene in downtown B'ham with the Willy Mays "Say Hey!" hamburger restaurant on 18th or 19th street around 7th Avenue North? The lighted sign had its name within a baseball glove outline.

As Joe Namath found out later on 20th street south, it takes more than a sports name to win in the food industry. Pat James showed one can win by offering really good food.
