Should have demanded a 2-1 lol

Great pick up Rice!

Great Move By Rice. Some years ago, MT was able to get Louisville to schedule a "Home and Home", with our Home game played at the Titans' stadium in Nashville. It was awesome for publicity and our Music City Alums. I am convince Rice will reap some real benefits playing their "Home Game" at the Texans' stadium.

Rice's 2 largest crowds since joining C-USA have been at Reliant, against Texas. One game drew over 70,000 and stands as the highest attended game ever hosted by a C-USA school.

Wow, awesome! Congrats Rice! I hope I can at least watch it on TV, if not take a trip to Houston to cheer on the Owls!

WKU never got to count attendance from games played at a alternative stadium (Titans). We had 40k plus then 68K at our last game and everyone says it don't count ....lol

Also Congrats!

I don't generally think much of teams bragging on neutral-site attendance. NRG is about 2 miles away from the Rice campus, closer than UAB is to Legion Field.

Yeah, unlike Rice @ NRG, I doubt if WKU was designated the home team when they played at Nashville.

For years, when Ole Miss had a crappy little stadium, they would play Tennessee in Memphis and it would be designated an Ole Miss home game, with the UT home game in Knoxville. I don't think that was the case with WKU with those games.

Anyway, hope Rice kicks their butt at home and away.

RE: Rice schedules football home-and-home with LSU ... - Artifice - 08-02-2016 03:50 PM

Did I read correctly that Rice was paying LSU $3.5 Million for that game?

That's what multiple sources are saying:

Quote:LSU will get a $3.5 million payout to play the Owls Sept. 19, 2020, in NRG Stadium, a source close to LSU said.

Ouch!

RE: Rice schedules football home-and-home with LSU ... - Ole Blue - 08-02-2016 03:57 PM

Well, hopefully the game is sold out - and then some - and Rice makes some bucks off of it. Wouldn't make sense otherwise.

RE: Rice schedules football home-and-home with LSU ... - Fort Bend Owl - 08-02-2016 04:07 PM

Usually the money for games at NRG comes from the NRG complex itself (or the group that hosts events there). They obviously control the gate and concessions. At least that's been the case in the past.

I'm curious to see if Rice is getting anything to play there (has to be something but how much?).

It will take Rice about as long to get to that game as it took Western ...45 minutes. Took us 25 minutes to go 2 mile last time we were in Houston.

The Western/uk game was a Western home game played on a NF...the field had Western's logo on it

Great get for Rice

Ouch!

As Fort Bend Owl says above, this is probably a payment from NRG stadium directly to LSU. NRG must be expecting high demand for luxury suites and stadium concessions.

Will this game be part of the C-USA television package?

.@RiceFootball will play @LSUfootball at NRG Stadium in 2020 and in Baton Rouge in 2024.

LSU has an enormous alumni presence in Houston and will outnumber the Owl fans at the game there by 3-1 and in Baton Rouge by 100-1.

We was the home team. It was a home home series but needed a bigger stadium because of attendance
