geographically it iowa state, wvu, cincy, memphis, kstate, kansas ..and we'll say byu on a north/south split like it was before...no offense that is a general weak conference in comparison to p5 contention
and texas, tcu, baylor, oklahoma, oklahoma st, texas tech and houston..that is a very regional, texas heavy division..that might hurt national appeal but would be a monster on paper strength wise
and east west all you would do is switch byu for houston and if i remove my homer glasses that makes the east conference even weaker
and logical geographical split will be disproportionate badly in divsion strength and you have to argue which team want to split.. ok st/oklahoma/texas and likely tech are tied at the hip...
the best divison i can make with the known politics is
the power team trying to preserve rivalries:
texas
oklahoma
ok st
texas tech
kansas
kansas st
houston (only other south team not tcu/baylor..trying to preserve their rivalry game)
the less powerful people thrown together
tcu
byu
cincy
bayor
iowa state
wvu
memphis
this is the best i think it gets with the politics

You would think that both would jump at the opportunity to separate from each other while keeping the RRS, given the assumption that the loser could still win their division and meet again in the Championship game.

permanent cross division on a 14 team league is no joke, you will likely only see teams twice every 6-8 years in the other division not the rival
