NBA Draft Night Thread - HoopDreams - 06-23-2016 09:50 AM

Seems so easy...players on the trading block.

Charlotte will give away the 22nd pick if someone also takes either Jeremy Lamb or Spencer Hawes.

Nets want a first round pick for Thad Young.

Seems like if the Grizz wheeled and dealed they could end up with Lamb, Young and the 22nd pick.

Or at the very, very least, one of Lamb or Young.

Other players rumored to be on the block - Eric Bledsoe and Brandon Knight.

As it appears the Celtics will be unable to trade their No. 3 draft pick, they are reportedly considering using it to select Dunn. If they bring Dunn to Boston, Marcus Smart or Avery Bradley could be traded to make room on the roster.

RE: NBA Draft Night Thread - HoopDreams - 06-23-2016 09:53 AM

The Hawks plan to shop around the No. 12 and No. 21 picks.

RE: NBA Draft Night Thread - HoopDreams - 06-23-2016 09:53 AM

Teams picking shortly after Memphis believe the front office is split between Malachi Richardson and Malik Beasley, no promise, per sources.

RE: NBA Draft Night Thread - HoopDreams - 06-23-2016 09:57 AM

There are rumblings that the Grizzlies have promised Malachi Richardson they will take him here — rumblings the Grizzlies deny. That may be because another wing they have ranked highly on their board, Luwawu, could still be available.

its always a very interesting night for sure.

RE: NBA Draft Night Thread - Tygrys - 06-23-2016 10:02 AM

Always interesting to see what trades come about and there always seems to be at least one player taken in the high or mid-first round that could have been gotten easily in the second round of the draft.

I like to watch the draft for the entertainment value of seeing analysts who study the draft 24/7/365 proven clueless.

In short - everyone outside of Picks 1 & 2 are looking to bail.

If I'm the Grizz & I can get Thad Young for #17, I pull the trigger.

Agree - and if I can get 22 and Jeremy Lamb for basically not much since they are desperate to get off salary, I do that as well. IMO.

Can't hurt - but I wouldn't give up much for Lamb and #22. It'd have to be a steal.

Both of these are intriguing options. Thad isn't a knock down outside shooter, but he could see minutes as a stretch 4, and he's still relatively young at 28. Lamb has had a couple of seasons where he's shot 35% from 3, but his shot has been inconsistent, and he hasn't stayed healthy. Knee-jerk reaction, I'd trade 17 straight up for Thad

@CamRoseShow: Getting the notion that Grizzlies are swinging for the fences from here out. Have collectively heard "star potential" and "talent grab"

RE: NBA Draft Night Thread - Tygrys - 06-23-2016 02:35 PM

Thad Young has been moved to the Pacers for the #20 pick and future second rounder... http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2016/06/23/reports-nets-send-young-to-indiana/?ls=iref:nbahpts

Maybe they can luck out and snag a stud at 17. I guess we'll see.

I can't imagine the Grizz throwing next season to get a top pick in 2017, but I don't know how else we land a superstar. Memphis isn't usually a top pick for free agents.

@WojVerticalNBA
Oklahoma City has traded Serge Ibaka to the Orlando Magic, league sources told @TheVertical.

Orlando will send Victor Oladipo, Ersan Ilyasova and rights to Sabonis to the Thunder, sources said.

Really surprised Orlando did this. Oladipo really came on last year, and to give up him and Sabonis just to get Serge Ibaka seems ridiculous.

That means high risk / hopefully high reward. I pray that doesn't mean Skal.

Here we go ... Grizz on the clock.
