Agree with that and CAA is the best conference out of those schools.

If they land him and Christmas that will be two good ones the Dukes have gotten from us recently.

Heard from Monmouth, JMU, Radford, App. State.

Seriously?

So far. If he has a strong season playing post-grad, he might get P5/Big East offers. Or at least I presume that's his thought process. Can't imagine he's leaving an ODU offer to go to JMU or App. Though maybe that's what ends up happening (though Monmouth is a respectable enough landing spot).

Ah, i read it wrong. It says he would have redshirted last year. I read it as after the post grad year.

Good luck to the young man.

Im really hoping for Jahmir Young. (we are top 5). I guess Davis is still out there?

Someone that popped up recently is Caleb Stone-Carrawell (will visit next weekend...might be his last visit?) That would be a perfect fit for us.

Charlotte for Carrawell

Dang- think he was supposed to come this weekend. Close to home though.

Starting to wonder if we get anyone in the early period. Seems most of the guys mentioned here have committed elsewhere. Who’s still in play?

I know people will get upset about this.........but I’m legitimately wondering if coach’s might be recruiting against Jones’s illness?

College basketball is cutthroat. It sadly wouldn’t surprise me at all with our inability to land anyone since the announcement.

I would not doubt that a bit.

That’s be a tough line to sell. On one hand that might be a legit concern for recruits, players want to know the coach they commit to will be there for their four years. On the other hand do you want to be the guy that brings that up to a recruit sitting in their living room with their parents?

RE: Men's Basketball Recruiting: 2018 - Razor Ramon Monarch - 10-29-2018 09:06 PM

I would hope most people would take the high road.

But do I think Stabsbury or pitino (well not anymore) or Boheim pull some crap like that?

Absolutely.

RE: Men's Basketball Recruiting: 2018 - Monarchblue - 10-30-2018 08:28 AM

I would think that more than a handful of coaches use that. They may not come out and say it, but they will at least find a way to plant the seed. There is nothing honorable about the world of recruiting.

Lost two kids to UNCC, Carawell and the PG from DeMatha.

RE: Men's Basketball Recruiting: 2018 - ODUi - 10-30-2018 08:34 AM

Beat me to it.... Jahmir Young to Charlotte.

RE: Men's Basketball Recruiting: 2018 - Mr.BigBlue - 10-30-2018 08:40 AM

Looks like we did not secure our Top PG target and SF target.

Damn, I have no idea who Ron Sanchez is, but he seems to be doing a good job recruiting.

Assistant coach from UVA. Had been with Bennett 9 years at UVA.

I think they got a good one.

We all knew that when they hired him. He has strong connections and did most of the recruiting for UVA.

Yeah they killed it with that hire. Something ODU fans could only dream of our Athletic Director doing for us.

Hope the coaches have some irons in the fire that we haven't heard about and can close deal. This has been a quiet cycle and it would be a shame to follow last year's class with a down year.
